Perhaps because many of them are in abusive relationships and let their common sense and self preservation take over.
I sincerely hope you are not encouraging abused women to risk their lives by staying in such a marriage.

Divorce of a valid "real" marriage joined to remarriage is banned by the new Testament and Apostolic Tradition( and by most Western Christian denominations until fairly recently)
Most religions, even those that accept it,are not thrilled with it because families are broken
Mal2:14-16" the lord says" I hate divorce"
Matt5:32-33,Mk 10:4-12,Matt19:4-9,Lk16:18,Rom7:2-3 whoever divorces and marries another commits adultery
Heb13:4 keep marriage honored
The Catholic Church is the only one i know of that keeps matt 19 4-9

While the Bible says that God "hates a divorcing", it does give ONE allowance in which a marriage may be dissolved by divorce.....and that SINGLE ground for divorce which God has laid down as acceptable, is if one mate commits fornication (sexual activity outside of the marriage bonds) against his mate.

Although the scriptures allow for one exception (fornication), what is expressly forbidden after divorce is re-marriage - no matter what the cause of the original dissolution.
This is a major stumbling point for much of the Christian Church today. Jesus Christ taught clearly - that divorce and re-marriage was the exact same thing as adultery.

Physical and Verbal Abuse
Adultery
There are others. Surely you would not expect a woman to stay with a man who beat her or her children!
Surely you do not expect anyone to stay with a person who is unfaithful and sleeps around?
Adultery breaks the marriage contract. SOmeone who commits adultery has broken a contract, and the partner has legal grounds for divorce.
You can also say that someone who abuses his or her spouse has broken the vow to "cherish" his or her partner.
I cannot believe some of you people who thhink that one ought to stay married no matter what.
God would never want His children to stay in a relationship where such things occurred.

i won't be in a position to have faith my eyes. are you able to truly declare such issues with a right now face? devoid of even delving into opinion i grants you info; the only government which could actually be referred to as a christian theocracy is according to threat the Vatican, in case you may call under 2 hundred human beings a "u . s . a .." the different substantial "christian" u . s . a . has a seperation of church and state. Islamic Governments enforce the Sharia, which forces non-muslims to the two, convert, pay a tax and stay a 2d type citizen, or die. How this equates to being different and tolerant, i might decide to comprehend. right here in u.s., we don't tension convert every person and we don't colonize every person, have been the only u . s . a . interior the international that is going to conflict and dosen't save the land we conquered.

ironic. all these young, horney christians marry the wrong person or someone they really don't know because they want to have sex, but don't want to do it outside of marriage.
so they marry at 18, drop a couple of kids and learn they never really loved the person they married. so they divorce.
funny how the bible states specifically that it is against divorce but nothing about sex outside of wedlock. people have come to redefine adultery to include sex before marriage, but that was not a christian priority until around 1100 CE. it's a false doctrine that actually perpetuates divorce.
something to think about.

Divorce except for fornication (adultery) is wrong.
If your mate commits adultery and you cant live with it then you can get a divorce.
If you are being abuse, you should separate but not get a divorce, the bible only permits divorce on the grounds of adultery

Because it's a reality of life that some marriages are bad for the couple or family involved, and it is emotionally healthier for the couple to dissolve such a marriage.

There are lots of reasons. The Anglican Church, for example, accepts divorce because it was founded by someone who was Catholic -- but wanted to divorce his wife.
