Yes, the PS3 has free online gameplay and a web browser built into all of the PS3's and web browsing is free also. I can't prove it to you, the only way you can find out for yourself is to buy one and check it out yourself. Also, the PS2 had free online gameplay as well.
Go to us.playstation.com and read about the PS3, or go to Wikipedia.org and search for PS3 and you will find the proof that it does have free online.

IT has wifi. You dont have to pay anything for it as long as it is connected to the internet. I currently have Comcast internet and I have a wireless router. I connect the Ps3 through the wireless router and I have internet. In an Xbox they charge you for playing online in addition to what you already pay. Not to mention it doesnt have Wifi.
