Yes it is.

This quote reminded me of a Sufi teaching I had encountered.

When speaking about the relationship between islamic law(sharia) and islamic mysticism, the Sufi explains: Faith is like a circle, whose outer lining is sharia, but whose core is tareeqa (referring to spirituality). The further you go into the core, the less need you have for the remembrance of rules, because the core contains Pure Love and the further you go into the edges, the less spiritual and hence 'lost' you become.
