So many of us "Christians" on this board are so arrogant. Has it ever occurred to you that your point of view may be wrong? Closed minded Christians are destroying any chances of leading others to God. Jesus was humble enough to wash someone else's feet. He's the son of God for pete's sake. We should humble ourselves and take the atheist's questions seriously instead of calling them names. Your faith is going to be challeged. Why cant we take the challenge as a way to enlighten others instead of trying to bring them down. We are just affirming their belief that we all are snobs who dont accept outsiders.

CC: By "open minded" I mean taking in to account other aspects aside of Jesus is Lord. i.e. science, lifestyle, other people's fealings and interputations. We have alot we could learn from each other. My faith in Jesus can be strong while still taking other's ideas into account.

Arrogance has its roots in the pride family. It inflates the ego. We can trace its path of destruction all the way back to the original sin. Arrogance has been a problem w/ many religious & christian people for a long time - the Pharisees, Bible scholars though they were, missed the entire point. They had heads full of knowledge and hearts empty of Jesus. They were "sidetracked" by other promotions. They knew book, chapter and verse, but they could not see the Big Picture. Do you suppose that we could possibly fall into that same trap today?

We should accept others, we should humble ourselves to that of a servant's heart. We should always be ready to help, and be there when someone needs us but we must never sacrifice what we believe. I do not think I am wrong with Christianity and I'm sorry and do apologize if that makes some mad. I believe 100% that Christianity is the true faith and will stick by that to my death.
It has occured to me in the beginning that I could be wrong, but now my faith has become so much stronger than before that I am not wrong. God lives, and is real.
God Bless.
Now, just because I believe strongly in Him doesn't mean I have to be rude and preach to everyone. You have to find a balance, but I won't compromise my faith.

Hello,
Yes and no, If you use your arrogance to demean others lesser than you on the social and economic pecking order then I could see where it may be sinful. On the other hand if you are a military or business leader in a highly competitive
world where you must instill confidence, respect and leadership skills then arrogance is an important and useful tool that may well save their lives or jobs.
Cheers,

You have a good point! However, whenever I am answering questions and I want to call them an idiot or whatever, I'm careful with what I say and I think, "How would I say this if I were talking to God?" A few days ago, maybe even a week ago, there was someone who says he got saved from reading posts on Yahoo Answers. That made my day! I was so happy, and I'm just hoping that that can happen again on here, and that is why I'm posting my replies on here. God bless =]

I am open-minded and feel as if we are all here to learn from one another.
I do take atheists' questions seriously IF the question is genuine. "Does Jesus like porn?" is NOT a serious question and does not require a serious answer.
I have never tried to convert anyone, nor have I called names.
I do not retaliate when I am called a stupid idiot who deserves nothing but scorn and ridicule because I am a Christian.
I try to be humble and loving, Sometimes it's pretty hard when I am attacked and called names.

When you end up in hell because you didn't believe Jesus Christ is the only true savior, then what? You won't have time to change your mind then. God has called each one of you and given you a chance to believe. The choice is yours no one else can make it for you. Each one of us will stand before God in judgement: Christian or not. The choice is yours but each KNEE will bow in the end.

Yes, the Bible is very clear that arrogance is a sin:
Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. - Romans 12:16.
"wise in your own conceits" = arrogant.

I congratulate you for seeing what some of your brothers and sisters in christ fail to see.
However, I would ask you to think about the non-sequitor you presented. How can a christian be anything but "closed-minded" when they cannot consider that their Jesus is not the son of god, or god himself. How can you consider a christian open-minded if he cannot consider that god might not exist? How then is such a christian a "true" christian?

well, it's certainly nice to see a Christian noticing the smug arrogance of some his fellow Christians. however, even you reveal from where Christian arrogance proceeds when you say "Closed minded Christians are destroying any chances of LEADING OTHERS TO GOD" (my emphasis). it's arrogant in the extreme to presume that you or anyone can "lead others to God" or that it's your god to whom others should be led. since arrogance is written into your scriptures it's nearly impossible for Christians, even those who employ humble proselytizing tactics, to be other than arrogant. it's simply arrogant to proclaim that your religion is the only valid religion and your god the only real god.

Their objective is to offer glory to God. those are no longer self-righteous human beings. they're unquestionably very humble - humble sufficient to settle for a splash persecution for the reason in the back of Christ. i do no longer say it because of the fact frankly i'm incredibly cowardly, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that that's generally a blessing to me to hearken to somebody else say it.
