First, yes you can be a human subject in a clinical trial.
Second, there is no fixed sum for payment . You will have to sign an agreement.
Third, in the UK, drug companies or research organisations advertise for 'healthy human volunteers' for their research programmes.
If you are not 100% fit, or receiving long-term medication, you are most unlikely to be accepted. The test compound may interact with your medicine, or vice versa, your drugs may upset the response to the novel agent.

Yes but not for very long I'm sure....lol. Some offer up to $1000 depending on the drug.
I'm sure they have a ton of side effects as you're testing drugs that have not been approved by the FDA.

Yes, you need to contact the clinical trials unit in your nearest teaching/university hospital. Money depends on the trial (time, whats involved and drug used). In the USA you can also earn by giving blood... but not in th UK.

Yes, my wife is a nurse in such a facility.
Mostly the guys argue about what channel to watch on the TV.
