I have a business that has limited parking that I pay rent and upkeep on. When I get in in the morning I see that several cars are already in the lot. They are there all day and are gone by the time I leave and back the next day. I assume that the cars belong to employees of surrounding businesses. I frequently see cars leave because of no place to park. I have the legal right to tow but I want to give notice first. I would like to send a letter to the businesses or put notes on the cars to give notice but I would like to word the letter in a way that does not create ill will. I am not angry I just want my customers to have a place to park.

The property is posted in every spot but the signs are ignored and I just have to call the landlord and he will have the car towed. In Washington the police have nothing to do with towing on private property. Our landlord has a contract with a private tow company. What I want to do is word a letter to have them not park in my lot in the first place. I already know that I have the legal right to have them towed, I just don't want it coming to that. My landlords answer is to just tow them, but anger by those being towed will be directed at me, not the landlord.

Try "Please be advised that this parking lot is privately owned. Beginning next week, any vehicles parked here without authorization will be towed at their owners expense"

You will also need a sign that tells people it's a private parking area. If after next week people are parking there, have them towed.

You need to have your landlord post the property as private, and that all parking is for tenants and customers only, and all other cars will be towed at the owners expense.

You can't just tow a car because its in your lot, you need to have a valid reason, and to have the car towed, the landlord, and not you will have to make the request to the police department.

Get a sign, and put them on your parking lots... or number them, and assign parking spots for your employees.

" Parking for ( insert buisness name ) only, all others will be towed. "

Have you comlained to the landlord? He/she should be the one to write the letters.
