Given the huge number of variables, many probably not even identified, events such as climate change will be debated up to either the completion or elimination of the event. Anyone who has taken high school chemistry should understand the theory and why it is possible.

Personally, I’m convinced something is happening, and have made changes to be far more energy efficient in my life and career. If I’m right, I’ve made my contribution to eliminating the problem.

If I’m wrong, here’s the impact on me: my fuel bills for my car and home are cut in half, the bottom line at my business is stronger due to reduced energy costs, my new landscaping looks awesome, and I have a slightly clearer conscience on wars over oil. I also have enjoyed some nice capital gains on emerging alternative energy stocks. It’s all win/win for me.

For you folks who disagree that man has an impact on global warming: if you’re right, you get bragging rights (but you still pay more for energy than I do)

What if you’re wrong? I’m anxious to hear your answers.

To dbj5: It’s not an unbiased opinion, it’s carefully considered. The price of oil is flirting with 100/b USD. If you think it will stay at $100, give me some of what you’re drinking.

As for spreading my bias, I have never commissioned or funded a research paper into global warming. I’m just assuming that people will quickly tire of 100+USD oil and seek out alternatives. We all know that people will vote with their wallets long before there is any legislation dealing with greenhouse gases. I see no disconnect in investing in my beliefs.

Pat yourself on the back- You get it.

Those that believe man is causing the end of the world want everyone to do as you have, except they want government to force them to do so.

You made changes to your life and can tell others the good that you're experiencing and convince them to make changes as they see fit to make to their lifestyle.

Good for you, and I hope more believers see that your approach is better than theirs.

Feels good to do the correct thing! We only have this one little wet rock spinning through space. We only get one shot at it,why not go for survival? Could be that most of the 'deniers' on here if not actually paid stooges of the oil co., they probably all have stock on Wall Street that will plummet if the truth came out unchallenged. I've been conscious of Climate Change for the last 40 years. It's SO simple! Weather, and therefore climate, is powered by heat. More heat, more intense and powerful effects on the climate. If someone were to research how the terms to describe the weather have changed over the last 40 years, I think you'd find an increase in the words 'unusual','freak','severe','never before in history','record breaking',etc... All part of a frightening trend in the climate. It's becoming more unpredictable and severe. You might think you got a secure reservation for the Rapture, and making money is better than caring about a planet that you don't really fully understand. Global Warming IS being increased by our burning of fossil fuels. We don't have the luxury of time to waste on silly rebuttles to solid science. Dogma and doubt are not constructive input.

That's right. We should become more efficient for a number of reasons not just because of the environment.

At least you've thinking for yourself - not going down the blind faith path.

I agree with everything you've said except I happen to think that the case for significant climate change is weak. We did have a lot of warming prior to 1950, then significant cooling. The CO2 theory is not a good fit to real world data.

(edit) Sure Bob - that's an interesting link. I don't doubt that the authors were competent and the theory is among the best information available, but the theory seems to be highly speculative. The observed data hardly ever falls inside their model error bands. If I was to draw a straight linke from the temperature at 1800 to the temperature at 2000 with the same sized error bands, that would be a better performing model because the observed temperature would spend more time inside the error bands. The paper was written in 2004 and the model has been fitted to past data. If the model was developed in1900 I'd be impressed.

people who say international warming doesnt exist are patently very uneducated. I wouldnt worry too lots approximately your destiny generations being "cooked" as lots by using fact the end results of international warming and the justifications why its happening. between the substantial reasons for problem is the climate substitute. that's changing habitats and inflicting harm to animals that stay in that habitat consisting of those animals that stay interior the sea by using fact water temperature is expanding inflicting a transformation in habitat and specific illnesses. additionally- specific areas that advance a particular crop by using situations wont have the skill to advance that crop anymore. additionally, between the justifications why international warming is happening is larger co2 that's having an impact on the upward push of vegetation- extremely the rainforests. do a sprint diagnosis and you will see thats international warming isn't almost human beings being uncomfortable from warmth cuz its relatively no longer approximately that for the period of any respect. some places are heating up- others are cooling down. Animals are shifting to different factors the place they might greater suitable stay and this all is having an severe reason and effect difficulty.

Ben O - Global warming theory that says, for the last 40 years, it's mostly due to greenhouse gases, is an excellent fit to the real world data. And it's the ONLY theory that is a good fit. NOTHING else can explain what's happened since the mid 70s.

And it also explains what happened earlier. Go to college library (the Journal of Climate is the most used climatology journal) and read this article.

So you have interests in emerging alternative energy stocks? Hmm. Then I'm sure you have an unbiased opinion.
