I have a project due in a few days. I have to make a time machine. WE just finished reading the book by hg wells.
This is not gonna be used for "time travel" cause we all know its impossible.
I just need ideas on hwo to make one.

I'm going to assume you're assignment is to make a fictional time machine. Short of buying a used DeLorean and a flux capacitor here are the critical items you will need.

- Dials that represent the calendar dates and times for the actual time, time where you are traveling to, and the time of where you just left.

Start and Stop buttons

Extra flashing lights and sound effects

Seat belts

A place to store the energy you'll need to travel back to the present. (time travel takes energy)

For more ideas, go rent Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure for another time machine design.

Imagine what things HG Wells would have encountered and incorporate features into your design.
- Will you need to bring food, water, tools and other supplies?
- How about weapons to fight off wild animals or dinosaurs?
- How many people will your time machine hold?
- How about maps and a compass? A GPS unit won't work if you travel back in time to before the satellites were launched.
- Will you have room for souvenirs?
- Should you bring boxes of trinkets to trade with the natives? Perhaps you can buy Manhattan first.

Have fun!

According to Einstein, the closer an object approaches the speed of light, the faster time moves around it (or in other words, the slower it travels through time). This theory HAS been proven through particle acceleration. Based on that, another theory says that if you could go the speed of light, time would stand still allowing a person to look at time as if it's a list of stops on a bus route and pick where he wants to go. So essentially, if you can go the speed of light, you could travel through time =D Maybe...

Oh, and I might add that it is very possible to travel forward in time by going really really fast (approaching the speed of light), that's something else proven by Einstein. In fact, astronauts age by measurable seconds (it's not alot, but it proves the theory) when blasting into outer space. But traveling backwards in time would be a bit of a problem... No worries though, because the guy in HG Wells book primarily travels forward in time ;)
