I try to stay away from all of that stuff, but when it gets really bad, my favorite is NyQuil...and then I just sleep it off...usually I'm good to go after 24 hours in bed and a few vitamins with some chicken soup on the side.
Hope you feel better soon!

Generally speaking, you're not supposed to give cold medicine to children under two. The FDA pulled all infant cough and cold meds off the market last year because of a study that said they were not effective in such young children and because there were so many accidental overdoses. My twins had an awful cough and cold just when all the medications were pulled. I was upset that there was nothing I could give them, but realized that the medications were pulled off the market for a reason. Saline drops to help the congestion, the bulb nose aspirator and a humidifier are pretty much all we can do.

Advil cold works in a pinch but here's what i think works better. If you can devote a day to sleeping, take some nyquil and crash out. When you wake up, take as hot of a shower as you can stand. That should clear some of the congestion out. Stay hydrated with juices and water. Take another dose of nyquil before bed and you should be ready to take on the world tomorrow.

half a cut up fresh lemon in steaming hot water drank fast. Then advil (naproxen sodium) as its easy on the stomach. Ibuprofen never hurts and even in small amounts will still "heal" your common cold. If this is your first cold then it will require time, patience, and kind words for others to keep the lights off and noise down as you lie in bed on and off for at least 24 hours. Turn the heat up to 73 or so.

If you want to go safe get some Bergamont oil.You can find it online under aromatherapy oils or at any store that sells oils. After just 2 applications my entire family feels better. It's safe for children and adults. You have to mix it with olive oil or shea butter, something so the straight oil doesn't burn your skin,it IS potent.I use it for colds, coughs, allergies, bronchitis. It is used for infections too, just a great non drug to keep in the medicine chest.

Zicam hands down! They sell a kind that comes in a covered spoon that you just unwrap and place in a glass of water, and it works wonders, it has Tylenol, zinc, and something else, but the zinc actually shortens the length of the cold. Use that and lots of Vitamin C.

Nyquill works as well as any, but when you get over this start
taking vitamin "C" 1000 mg three times a day and build your
immunity up against colds. I havent had one for 30 years.
