Question about prednisone?
I went on Prednisone in July because i was sick. It causes you to retain water and gain weight. I gained about 15 lbs (most is water weight) and i have a puffy tummy and cheeks(moon face) from it. I started on 60mg a day of it and now i am down to 7 mg soon to be 5mg and then zero! YAY How long after i get off of prednisone will I lose the weight that i gained?? Is there anything i can do when i first come off it (i.e. diet/exercise) to help lose the weight quicker?

Diet and exercise always helps. You have to give the medication time to get out of your system. For most medications this is about two weeks.

good luck.

Prednisone is an awesome relief for some pain, however as awesome as it is, it can also be dangerous if taken too long, I KNOW this from experience,
I was on it for over 2 years which is a big mistake on Docs part, as it weakens your bones tremendously :(
I learned this when I fell and broke my hip , no not cuz of my age 43. The emergency Doctor actually threw my file when he seen that I was on prednisone for 2years, and actually yelled out to everyone there saying this is why she has a broken hip , who the hell prescribed this he asked.. Needless to say many things were said and done, however I ended up with 2 surgeries on my hip and now have had a complete hip replacement cuz the bones around the pin they used to put hip back together, crumbled. My bones were not strong enough
I never had the bloating that you have endured, or the weight gain, but please be sure NOT to take it for too long. The dosage amount you are on, is MUCH higher than my 5mg dosage 2 times a day.
PLEASE please be very careful with this drug.
