okay, so im currently on medication for anxiety/depression. i take Effexor XR. anyway is it true that you can't join the military if you're on medication for depression, anxiety, ADD, etc.
If so, that means i'll have to gradually come off of my medication and i really don't want to end up going insane.

You will be disqualified from enlisting in the military. If you get off of them I believe you have to wait a minimum of two years and go through a psychiatric evaluation before you can request a waiver to join. But realize if you go back to needing them in the military you will be discharged. So if you have a lifelong disorder then you will not be allowed to join.

You will be unable to join the military. I am sorry about that. You might be able to join, you should call your local enlistment station. The standards the military has been using has been changing a lot recently, so you may be able to join.

God bless you for wanting to serve our country, but I am sorry if you are unable to.

yes. not only that, you must be off these types of meds for 12 months and function normally before you can even request a waiver.

They will not even take personnel who need an inhaler. So unless you can get off the meds. for basic and AIT you will be fine. Once you get to your unit after basic and AIT, you can start back up on the drugs and as long as you go to the Aid station "Sick Call" and say you need it.
