I don't see how you separate the two. As an individual, I'm influenced by society, and society is influenced by me. No one lives in a bubble.

The morals that God placed in my heart guide my actions. If it happens to match with society, then so be it.

Not. Ever since we in all our wisdom have decided that our elected representatives cannot express their values in terms of their faith, b/c it violates separation of church and state, our legislation has become groundless and wishy washy more responsive to political whim and fleeting fashion.
Morality, no longer exists as a part of the process and the process has suffered as a result.
