What's the best way to edit a large photo?

I have a large photo that is too large for my scanner. How can I edit this photo in Adobe Photoshop?

You can't begin to edit it in Photoshop until you have the image on your computer. There are two ways, I suggest, you can do this. Either make multiple scans of parts of the picture at a time and stitch them together in Photoshop, or photograph the picture with a digital camera, either in whole or in parts again, whichever is easiest.
