Never knew I was supposed to be in fear because you exist. As always, thanks for letting me know what I'm supposed to feel and think.

If you mean Christians, or Muslims, yes their religion is based on just a book. They feel insecure because they don't have any other proof. If anyone discovers something which disproves anything in their book, they try to silence those. People can get so fanatical about "the word" that they are ready to kill others if they don't agree with it.
So this insecurity leads to fear that what they have been believing might not be true at all. But they don't want to even hear or think about it being wrong. Kill any messenger who even mentions otherwise.

Umm, I've never heard or seen of anyone "threatened" by the existence of Atheists. That doesn't make any sense. Are you threatened by the name "Christians"?
How did you ever get fear out of not believing that someone doesn't believe? The way you describe it, I'd call it incredulous before fear. But most of the time, we get Atheists calling us all assorted names because they/you can't believe that WE believe in a real God. So maybe you're the pot calling the kettle black?
EDIT: gorgeoustxtemptress2, what are you referring to that we're supposed to fear? Apparently I missed the Fear memo.

That's a fairly good question - It seems like there has always been a strong antagonism toward atheism on the part of believers. No Idea why the reaction to us should be so extreme but obviously it really bugs some people when we won't play their game. I think it is because in most of the monotheist religions there is a high pressure to conform and we reject the payoff in the game because we reject the whole premise. To someone inside the game we are rejecting the whole basis of their identity so maybe that has something to do with it... as I said it baffles me.

Growing up a fundie I can say that fear was instilled in me until I was petrified to know I was around an Atheist. They were made out to be the most evil on the earth, even more so than Satan. To have the audacity to say there is no god was the most horrible and horrendous evil there was. Fear is the main factor in their treatment of us. They really think people like us don't deserve to live and that we are unforgivable for our beliefs and should burn more than anyone else in hell.
Can you feel the love?
Miche, you are so right. They avoid us at all costs in real life.

I'm not afraid of them or one of them but I agree with your view. atheists have just as much right to exist as anybody else. People's different beliefs should be seen as a reason to educate yourself on other believes, not slam them down. I would never tell an atheist, or anyone for that matter, that their beliefs are wrong, because frankly, anybody could be correct.

The idea that there is no God is mathematically impossible. Basic probability tells you that the odds of a blob of primordial ooze morphing into a man, regardless of how much time has passed, are so remote that mathematicians regard it as impossible. Emile Borel and Fred Hoyle are just two mathematicians who reject evolution on statistical grounds. The idea is a "Statistcal Immposibility". For example, it is theoretically possible that you could blow up a junk yard and all the flying pieces would land and form themselves into a Cadillac - that is possible. But the odds against it are so high that it constitutes a "Statistcal Immposibility". Same goes for evolution. That only leaves one possibility: God. There's your proof, mathematically arrived at.
