I am the coolest white boy I know. I'm proud of my race and I respect ALL other races. I was raised around black folk growing up in Atlanta, Georgia and I am here to tell you my brothers and sisters that when a white boy calls a black a N----r, a fight is bound to happen.
But when a "Brother" calls another brother the "N" word, the response is sometimes like, "*****, shut your mouth and pass me da blunt." ???
I told your *** I was a cool *** white boy?

But like "Huckaberry" points out..."What's up with the "Race Card"???

The n-word is really a marker for some of the crazy cultural divisions we are placing these days. The strangest element of political correctness is that it is practically social suicide for a white person of any reputation to use a work they hear every day from the African American community. And even within the African American community, you will have those who think no one should use is as well as those who think African Americans should use it but whites who do should be publicly flayed - too strange. At some point it will probably die out in use - or it will get rough when there is public outcry about whether someone is "black enough" to use it or not. It is a ridiculous problem - it's a word, and apparently at least part of the African American community is not opposed to its use, which should mean anyone can use it, but with rebuke from a portion of the African American community, but the insistance that somehow it is worse if whites use it is just using it as a social weapon.

There's not a day that goes by where ignorance doesn't blossom into a new tree of intolerance. I am speechless. My jaw literally fell slack while I read this. it's so ignorant it's almost humorous. You must feel betrayed. I would, but. I'd also be thankful to have found out her true feelings. We Black people don't come in stages or categories. I've heard the term "safe blacks" used before, but. "preppy". I'm glad that all people aren't so stupid. America is dying from a cancer called racism from the inside out.

Because you're white. They see you as someone who's family could've enslaved their ancestors. You don't understand their struggle and what they went through. Even the coolest black person will get mad when someone calls them that.. Listen, it doesn't matter how cool you are, don't say it. You don't understand how it makes them feel when they hear that word and all of the negativity white people attached to it.

I'm not black, but I do know a ton of black people. It's not about you being cool or not being cool. The only thing that matters is that the word was used so negatively from our race. Don't think of it as a "I'm cool! I'm going to say the 'N' word!" thing.

If someone walked up to a gay person and said "oh my God, that hat is so fag," they'd get mad too.. unless the other person was gay. It's just society.. I know as a metal head (heh, a metal head that hangs out with black people, I know) I get pissed when some barbie-looking chick uses the devil horns to some totally horrible band.

Back in the day, black people used the word as a form of affection. But, the white people found out and started using the word against them. So it's pretty much that if a white person says it to a black person, then its used offensively, but if a black person uses it, its just like the word brother.

Oh Please...If a black person calls another black person the "N" word, then they are the ones disrespecting their whole race and should be ashamed of themselves.

The "N" word is disgusting, regardless of who's mouth it is coming out of. No one should say it. WHITE OR BLACK.

The theory is that if you're a member of the affected group, you have paid your dues (facing prejudices, etc) and thus have the right to say it.

I think that theory is a load of crap, personally.

P.S. If you're the coolest anything, you won't even dream of using it.
