Learning Civilian Krav Maga techniques is on how to get out of the "situation" while turning to be aggressive ( in terms of attacking the vital points of the attacker) as well as looking/scanning for possible ways out of the reach of more attacks (uses of weapons/more attackers) and be in a safer position (exit to where people are around as witnesses or hide etc).
There are a lot of topics where in small sticks/knife/gun handling are used as a primary weapon to harm a person. This is not for civilian information. I know that and you know for whom this information is available to. The depth of subject in combat fighting is there in KM but not taught as you see in the civilian sector.
It is naive to consider KM as a regular punch and kick, defensive move blah blah...its not the case, else (late) Imi's work would not have appreciated when Asian martial arts is already well known and practiced.
Join the other school (silat/escrima) while you learn KM in a civilian course. You can incorporate the knowledge when you join for elite/anti-terrorist/SWAT/military/secret service KM courses.

I'll give you the same answer I give everybody. Different people prefer different styles my friend. And it's important to find the right one for you. For a beginner I would recommend kickboxing- it covers a lot of the foundations of self-defence: punching, kicking, elbows and knees and a little bit of grappling. However if you're reflexes are sharp and you're looking to lose weight, Tae Kwon Do is very much about exercise and fast kicking. It's more social and more of a hobby than a serious method of self-defence. Otherwise, shop around. Look up some local clubs and try your hand at a few different arts. You're the one who can best decide, not us. Find the one you like the best, the one that suits your physique and attitude to combat/self defence, and stick with it until you're ready to learn something new. Keep in mind that regardless of what art you learn, unless you have a good teacher, any amount of training will be worthless outside the training hall. It's who, not what, you learn.

all three of them were displayed on the human weapon a show on the history channel if you dont mind paying $2 per episode you can download them here:

i dont think silat is on yet since it just came on friday. if you wanna watch it for free then try catching it on the history channel. or im sure you can download the episodes for free if you look in the right places :)
anyways there is no BEST style entirely depends on how you are trained but im a lil bias towards krav maga since i've done it before, also i would like to take escrima, and i dont know too much about silat.
heres a quick overview of all the styles:
escrima(or kali)- is a filipino martial arts that emphasize stick and sword/knife fighting. the moves you learn with a weapon is meant to be the same without a weapon in your hand. so drop the weapon and you still have the same techniques: it includes striking, grappling, and weapon disarming

krav maga- is an israeli military martial arts develop to survive any situation by any means neccessary(eye gouges, groin kicks, punching throats, getting your keys out and stabbing an attacker with it ANYTHING). it takes techniques from several different arts (boxing, muay thai, karate, judo, wrestling, etc...) and uses what they feel is most effective to increase the amount of injury to your attacker along with minimzing your chances of injuries.

silat is a blanket term for martial arts throughout malay archipelago. i dont know too much about the style other than what i watch on the human weapon but from what i saw some systems of it is striking some is striking with some grappling(standing) and some moves are imitating animals. also they rely on conidtioning your body to pain and increasing confidience(on the show they had to jump through a hoop on fire, bend a metal bar around their kneck, pour lime jiuce in their eyes, etc...)

I'd say krav maga.
I've never seen how effective silat and kali are, and kali uses weapons.

With those three, the better fighter would win.
I would give krav the edge though because of the dirty fighting aspect of the system.

The quality and frequency of your training will far outweigh your style.
