Of course it's fine. Think of Wolfgang Puck... he's a guy

My son is 16 months and he has a small toy kitchen! Your son is only copying what he sees! Which is you (or your husband) cooking! It is called pretend play and you should give your child all of the opportunities to do it! It is a good idea to give your son a kitchen! If husband is TOTALLY against it, then do this instead: Buy some fake plastic food and some fake pots and pans. (or let him use some little ones that you dont use often) Then give a whole drawer or cabinet to your son. Put the fake food, the pots and pans, some of your own cooking spoons, some measuring cups, etc in it! Just ANYTHING that is cooking related. Let him always have access to that drawer or cabinet. You dont need the whole kitchen for him to pretend. And when you cook, he can "cook" with you! Hope this helps!

It's not gay. In fact, I know a number of guys that can cook and are not gay. You could get a toy kitchen, but make sure that he really loves cooking and you con't waste it. On the other hand, you could show him how you cook and help him get interested. Look at Iron Chef. More man cooks there. If you show him how you cook, he might want to learn in the future, and if you are doing simple cooking that doesn't require knives or has something safe he can do, make him do something like pulling of the ends of green beans or something. That's simple.

It's wonderful to buy your son a toy kitchen. It teaches him that men can be wonderful cooks, that they can care for a family with their own two hands, and that they are also responsible for cleaning an equal share of the mess. It's not "gay" at all. It is outside of typical gender roles but those are antiquated to begin with and can cause harm for children who do not fit within those narrow definitions of masculinity and femininity.

Your son will enjoy the toy kitchen. That's what's most important.

Peace,
Jenn

I do not understand how that is gay!!! Maybe if you bought it for an 11 yr old it would be gay. But this a 4 yr old! Saying buying a 4 yr old play kitchen is "gay" is like sayig cooking is gay! Maybe one day your son will be a professional chef and then see what you husband thinks how "gay" that is. haha just kidding. If your son wants it, you should get it for him if your fine with it! Your son will be so happy to get it :)

OMG!! I have a 2 year old and everyone thought the same thing! I went against unpopular opinions and bought my son a unisex looking kitchen (it's green and white). He loves it. He cooks when I'm cooking and copies what I am doing. We bought it for his birthday in October and for Christmas we got him some fake food to go with the kitchen. Men can be chefs too!

Absolutely!

Remind your husband that the world's most celebrated, successful chefs are men.

Also, ask your husband if he realizes that by saying giving your son a toy kitchen is "gay", he's implying that he believes cooking is "woman's work" and does he secretly want you pregnant and barefoot in the kitchen making dinner for your man? Give him a really loaded question, and have fun watching him try to provide a safe answer. :-)

Yes it is okay! Tell your husband to get out of the 50's!!

My two younger brothers wanted a teapot and dolls when they were younger, and they got them. And they are both very much the macho, crazy teenage boys that people expect them to be. Tell hubby there's nothing to worry about.

This will teach your son a valuable life skill and let him be more open to other situations later on in life. And who doesn't want a man to be able to cook a meal for them once in awhile?

OK I just asked my Husband to get a Father's opinion to add to my own. Your son is just emulating the things that he sees around him there is nothing wrong with it, he doesn't understand at this age, he's just mimicking his own life.
We have 5 children between us and one on the way. We have 2 boys ages 3 and 4, one plays with cars and likes tools and such and the other plays with our daughters kitchen but also with cars and balls.
So tell him not to worry. Besides who doesn't need a great chef in the family.

No, I don't think there is anything wrong with that! There is nothing "gay" about a toy kitchen. I know a little boy who also has one. Go for it, I'm sure he will love it.

Are you serious? That is stupid! Yes get him a toy kitchen, and let him know that there was a study saying that they toys you let your child play with will NOT make him gay! Or anything other wise! men like that make me so mad, my little brother played with my toy kitchen and house! He is not gay at all!
