If they get very defensive about a certian subject it could mean that they are hiding something. Or if they go overboard in trying to cover up their tracks. A Cheater will often complain about other Cheaters so that it helps cover his own misdeeds.

Vagueness when asked to give a specific answer, something ludicrous such as space aliens caught me and gave me an anal probe, refusal to look you straight in the eye when answering a question or repeatedly asking why you want to know. Unfortunately, some people and especially loved ones in long term relationships, are excellent liars because they know how to manipulate you so that you never suspect a thing. They can look you square in the eye, lie and never blink. Unless you have a recurring history of jealousy and trust issues, I'd say if you suspect something is going on then there's a good chance something is going on. HOWEVER, if everyone you've ever been close to has lied to you, then chances are you're the one with the problem.

All liars/cheats have a "tell", just like gamblers. Watch their body language, but don't let them know that you have discovered their "tell".
Some common "tells" are: playing with a certain ring, rubbing their nose, not looking you in the eye when they talk to you, pulling on one particular ear.
