I respect them more now than ever. I realize now the people they deal with on a daily basis. We put our lives in danger everyday to protect people and their families and don't know if we will make it home safe to our families. Sara S, just because you might of had a bad experience with a deputy does not mean all of them are that way. You also have to realize if the deputy was rude did you ever stop and think that maybe the call he went on before was something that might of upset him. It is not an excuse to be rude but sometimes it happens. My brother hated cops just as much as you did until I started working for the department and now he realizes the things we deal with and the stress it causes on us and our families. Now dont get me wrong, there are some bad cops that do not need to be out there protecting citizens but don't take it out on all cops because you had one bad experience. One day god forbid if you are getting shot, stabbed, robbed, or rapped who will you call first, not your mother, it will be the cops so don't say you never need a cop because they just might be the ones to save your life or a family memebers life. To all law enforcement, I have the most respect for the boys in blue and god bless you and your family.

I have no problems at all with the Police. They are doing a job that most people couldn't, or would want to do for 24 hours, let alone 20-30 years. I judge everyone on an individual basis. They have my respect.

not satisfied with the work they are doing

i respect the honest , decent cops , as it must be difficult to deal with criminals and corrupt cops on the force.

i think that the honest cops are going to have to step up and drop these code of blue silence.

i think we as a society have to fight for better laws to protect citizenship and define what the standards should be. we need to pay our police twice of what they earn . we need to recruit the best and brightest of candidates into these roles and then work to retain and develop that talent.

my idea of a perfect officer is one that wants to be a police officer. i don't want anyone in that role that hates the job or has selected it as an occupation because they couldn't get the job they really wanted. a perfect officer self manages his behavior ... if (s) he's too burned out / (s)he takes a vacation / utilizes employee assistance programs . a perfect officer would be one that respects the public . performs his/her job duties and helps develop others on their force.

My idea of a perfect police officer would include, among other things, an ability to look past the letter of the law and act on the spirit of the law. If you're in it for the power, you ought not to do it at all. Be respectful of citizen's rights, and understand that you work for us when you come right down to it. Firm but fair, that's the way I'd like to see the policemen in my area behave.

...but the way things are now, I'd prefer to keep them at a distance.

Tatoos of that variety is in simple terms no longer a difficulty. some companies insist that they no longer be seen on duty. Too many site visitors violations might have an impact, yet that effect decreases as years flow through. they're going to put in their vehicles, so as that they understandably do no longer choose the criminal duty that is going with having an worker with an extremely undesirable record using for them.

I think is cool they are around, but my hate towards them starts out when they harras me, and act as if they are above the law. I think law enforcement personel should help people instead of what is happening now,

Police officers provide a very important service to the public welfare and I can't imagine life without them. I really don't want them coming around because if they do that means something bad has happened or will happen. It's not like they ever stop by to have some coffee and see the kids or just say hello. So I prefer they just stay away.

For the most part cops are just people who have low self esteem and have something to prove...and are not serving the public but lording over us, like they're judge and jury.
One time, cops came to my door and asked to speak to me about a case...on advice of my attorney I declined, and the cops said," Can we come in and talk about it?" I said," No, you can't." The short one said<" This sure makes you look guilty." I said,"Good thing, you're not the judge, then."
They racially profile people and everyone is presumed guilty until you can prove your innocence. Look at the Duke LaCrosee Players Trial: The cops and DA both pushed THEIR Judgement on the case and these boys were innocent. ANd this is only one case we hear about. Imagine all the cases we don't? Or like when they chase a 16 yr old who stole a losey car and kill him, but aren't charged with manslaughter? I hate the cops!
I have NEVER needed a cop except when I had a car wreck. They may be necessary...but cops aren't public servants like they should be. They SUCK BIG ONES!
A perfect officer is a oxymoron, mate.
