i don't understand why people make such a big deal about hunting.
we don't have this conversation when it comes down to killing a poor inncent cow so you can eat your big juicy steak everynight.
I hear so many people say it is so inhumane
all i have to say is at least the deer have a fighting chance they can run away (well they can if they are not standing in my sights)
the cows are fenced in and can't go any where no that inhumane.

all i have to say is get grip eat up and be happy
it's a sport get over it

I agree, I had this discussion with my sister-in-law a few years ago. She was ragging on me pretty hard about shooting poor defenceless animals like Bambi. The funny thing about it was....she was stuffing her face with a hamburger at the time! Of course I let her have it, I told her how her meat was collected and every time she pulled into MickyD's or BK, etc.,she was ordering the killing of another cow.
She still eats hamburgers and I still hunt, the only thing now is , I don't catch any grief from her anymore!!

It is one rare dog who can chase, catch, bring down, and kill a deer of any size. It is even more incredulous that it is a staffie type dog who has done so, as they generally wold have not enough prey drive, speed, agility, size or desire to do what you have described. Are you totally sure this dog did not 'catch' and already injured, or even dead, deer? Hunting with dogs IS illegal in Britain, but I know many lurcher men who would still pay a fortune for a dog with the [dubious] 'skills' you describe. The aspect of this dog running wild is a totally separate issue, which should DEFINITELY be reported to the police, dog warden, council, neighbourhood watch and any other community groups in the area. - and I would say this whether the dog has fought other dogs or not. It is dangerous to itself and others, and MUST be taken under control - if the owner isn't willing to act, then you should keep on at the authorities until one of them do.

Hunting isn't exactly a violent sport, so I agree with your point of view. Hunting is just a way of survival, even if you don't need the eat the deer, it's a sport and its good for the World, because it keeps the deer population down. The Government has been thinking about increasing the amount of deer that you can kill per season to 2, because of the rapid increase on Deer population. Killing animals is part of living life, and it's some what needed in our society.

Actually, I've heard plenty of people gripe about cows. But whether or not either is inhumane isn't really the point, because you have the freedom to do either in this country, and it's not like deer are endangered, so do what you want and don't listen to what people say against it.

I personally don't like the idea of hunting, but that doesn't mean I'm going to try to stop other people from doing it. Because people are going to do it anyway, so what would be the point? It's called agreeing to disagree.

I'm a vegetarian, so I don't eat any meat. But I respect people who hunt and eat that meat a whole lot more than people who go to the grocery store and eat meat from cows who were raised and tortured on a farm that never even had a chance. I agree, atleast deer have a fighting chance, and they get to live a normal life up until the point they are shot.

I completely agree with you. Its not as easy as people think, killing a deer, or any other game animal for that matter. Any old schmuck can go sit in the deer woods and wait, but it takes a lot of work... Scouting deer, finding a good tree to sit in, then waiting to see if the deer come through your spot. We use everything but the guts as well.

Well, I dont hunt, but here is my justification. Where I live (eastern Ohio), all of the main predators have been extirpated for the most part. Wolves, mountain lions, black bears, etc. Therefore, if hunting didnt exist, deer populations would grow exponentially. Until the natural predator population is restored, it will always be this way. On the positive side, black bears are starting to make a comeback.

I love to hunt deer. Whitetail are plentiful here on the plains of eastern Montana. It is an excellent sport and I don't understand why anyone would oppose it.

I'll agree with you 100%.

Tony, what state are you in? The whitetail limit here is 2 per DAY, 6 per season. And you can buy extra tags.
