Atheists come to sites like any other people. Some to give their honest opinions on the question others to rant. Comes from both sides.

Most come here for the same reason a person of any other religion would, including you. Because if you're the only one who believes something, everyone will think you're crazy not to mention its not much fun, but if you can get more people to believe what you believe then that certainly is more fun not to mention the sense of power it gives you. But does that really make your beliefs any more valid, just because lots of people believe it?
I don't believe there is no God, I know there isn't because I have not yet seen any proof that would support otherwise and also because I understand that a lie is still a lie even if millions of people believe it.
Its amazing how such a simple quote can be so hard for so many people to understand.

They also come here to defend themselves against the vituperations from "compassionate" Christians who comment that while atheists roast in the fiery pits of hell for all eternity, the saved will be in heaven, looking down on their plight and laughing
And before you get cheesed off, I actually read this question here.
Plus there is a difference between arguing and an open discussion. Yes there are extremists from both camps who mix it up, but they are not truly a representative of either concern

Just like everyone else, they come here to learn, debate, and inform. There are some who do simply come here to argue, but it just isn't the atheists. I've come across quite a few christians who do just that, and I have a few times just to vent frustrations as I'm sure they were doing. Keep an open mind and you will be surprised what you can learn from everyone here.

We come here to present a point of view and comment on prejudiced questions such as this one right here. This question is a classic example of a believer, assuming that you in fact are one, thinking that he has an idea of what goes on in someone else's mind. The main fuel for argument is the insulting questions about atheists and the statements by believers about who and what they think atheists are. A lot of stupid things are said about atheists by people who know nothing about what such people actually think and feel. Atheists are stereotyped into an image of a cowardly evil malcontent. When you make insulting generalizations about people, insult and argument is the best you can expect in return. Atheists do not all look and act like Snidely Whiplash, so don't flatter yourselves, believers. It's all just another of the lies you've been told for so long that you don't question it any more, you just accept.

I am an Atheist and I do not probe my religious views upon anyone. I have strong beliefs as do most religious folk which is of no importance to me either way. Every individual has the freedom of believing and practicing whatever they choose and as you can say Atheists come on here to argue it is solely because they believe religion is ignorance and those who believe in religion or deities can say the same for Atheists. It is a matter of opinion and both parties can be categorized under what you are saying.

I am assuming you mean to the religion and spirituality portion of Yahoo answers since to me that is what the site is, the R& S part is a webpage of that site..... but beyond technocality......
Just because you hear something you don't have to believe it, or trust in it or in religious terms make it the gospel truth. OR that you are really looking to admit anything.... and it doesn't mean they are hear to agrue either. This is not about the one and only God Almighty, Alpha and Omega Christian God that we talk about in R& S there are other gods that can be talked about. and I think atheists reject the Christian God but I could and sure someone will prove me that I am wrong on this

Nope, i've got admitted it and could state it lower back: i might relatively want to have a loving heavenly father and if adequate evidence is provided to make that a 50/50 threat of actual being real, i'm going to transform. although, a Deity that would have executed the meticulous volume of layout paintings for this universe might might desire to tutor a similar in his e book and dealings with humanity. There are different "appeals" besides. the concept legislating your style of morality on the entire of society is thoroughly unacceptable and this desires to be understood by potential of all. the concept myths could be provided as technological know-how or that it relatively is alright to deprive toddlers of an practise in keeping with religious ideals is likewise unacceptable. Then there is the plain rationalization: all R&S questions are indexed interior the biggest "society and lifestyle" area - no longer in easy terms interior the R&S subsection!!

The topic is Religion and Spirituality.
Being Atheist doesn't mean lacking spirituality. So the site is not exclusively set up for the religious people, if it were it'd be titled -Religion.
True spirituality is something that is found deep within oneself. It is your way of loving, accepting and relating to the world and people around you. It cannot be found in a church or by believing in a certain way.

I'm not sure what athiests or christians, jews, muslims, buddhists, or hindus are here for. Maybe it is to argue, or start fights... or maybe it is to simply have their questions answered like everyone else.... But whatever it is, if they wanted to admit that they believed in God you would think that they would go to a church or something to argue with the pastor, not monotheistic people that entertain them with a reaction.
