Hey Jack, well some of these answers have been misinforming you, they are wrong, ONLY games bought from other regions in the world are playable on any PS3.
Whereas Blu-Ray movies are region locked, which means you will not be able to play those US movies on your UK PS3.
I know it sucks, but hey instead of buying movies why not buy more PS3 games. They're so cheaper in the US because you got more dollar for the British pound. Hope you enjoy your christmas.

NO They Will Not. Only PS3 Games Are Region Free. Blu-Ray Movies, Like DVD's, Are Region Locked. From What I Can Remember From The summer, The Prices Are Not That Different.

While some blu rays are region locked there are some which are not, there are sites which states which movies classed as region A actually lack region locking and will work on an EU PS3.

The two answers that have been stated are incorrect. Blu-Ray movies are still region locked. That means that you can only use USA movies on a USA PS3. Only games bought from another region can be played on any PS3.
