I prefer the Butter Golden cake - I like the taste that the butter adds to it.

I would go with the Butter, as I make my own pound cakes, but I did try a cake mix recently, and I was surprized with the butter flavoring in the Butter Recipe Golden

I seldom use cake mixes but when I do I always choose one that calls for a cube of butter. The butter gives it a much richer taste and lovely, moist texture. Commerial cake mixes are engineered to turn out perfect everytime but the addition of traditional "whole" ingredients like butter and eggs makes them taste more like homemade.

I've made both, and to me, they taste the same. The classic yellow uses vegetable oil, while the butter recipe calls for you to add real softened butter. Since they both are delicious, I opt for the classic yellow. The cost of vegetable oil is alot lower, and I can splurge more on the ingredients for my frosting.
