Is there a difference other then spelling Hope & Wishing?
if so then Prayer is the request based on a hope!
& a wish is a desire of the heart with out a request!
if not then a prayer is a request based on both!

It is both and neither. Without faith, a prayer being answered it is a pipe dream and will only happen if that is what God choses. One must have complete faith that, I am asking for this thing for the glory of God and he will make it happen for prayer to work.
God does not answer prayers for wealth, fame, or power, i.e. hopes and wishes. Your prayers should be for others, for their salvation, for your growth as a christian. Never pray for possessions as that is wordly and it will never be answered.
He answers prayers which glorify him through the fulfillment of the prayers.
