I keep a list of all the beers I try at http://www.geocities.com/lager57

Back in the late 1980's I tried Dragon Stout, brewed in Jamaica by Desnoes & Geddes LTD. It is one of my top 10 favorite imports.

Thursday I bought a 6-pack of Dragon Stout. Now it is brewed and bottled by Red Stripe.

On my beer list, should the new Dragon Stout count as a different beer? Sould I make a new enty with the new brewer, and increment my count?

Desnoes and Geddes makes red stripe beer and dragon stout. I know that they have been pushing red stripe not only as a beer but as a brand, so you have red stripe beer towels, keyrings, shorts, teeshirts.

Here is something about D & G changing its name to Red Stripe:-

"The Jamaican brewing company Desnoes & Geddes said last week that it will change its corporate name to match that of its flagship beer, Red Stripe lager. The name change will take effect early in 2001 as part of a D&G marketing campaign touting Red Stripe as the "world's coolest beer company."

There is no difference between the 80s and now.... same brewer.

Seriously good stuff. Back in the 80s it was one of my favorites too. I haven't had one in years but I always thought it was made by Red Stripe then.
You're taking your list way too seriously. If you can pluck your memories from the 80's, do you think it tastes any different? Is it as bad as Coors' Guiness is as opposed to old British Guiness? Unless it seems drastically different I'd just note it on your list with a year. I'm curious too...is it as good to you now as it was then? I'd search it out if you say it's still that good. I loved the stuff.
