They aren't doing it to be malicious or bratty. They are exploring the new sensation of teeth. Instead of popping the poor baby or biting back, simply say "Ouch! No biting" or something similar, and redirect with an appropriate chewing toy. They will eventually get it, without the need to resort to violence.

The only way to stop a baby from biting is to do what works for other things. Taking the child or the item away and saying, NO usually works. The only problem with biting is that if the child is around other kids, he/she can really hurt them. Parents have to be diligent and impress upon the child each and every time how this behavior will not be tolerated. They sometimes bite out of frustration but that passes as soon as the child learns to talk and can verbalize what he/she wants.
Stay away from that baby unti she learns though.

They are learning. I know it is difficult to understand. They are also teething and most of their learning experiences involve their mouths. Together, that sometimes equals biting.
Back before we knew better, people bit them back, but now we know that is child abuse and ineffective. The best thing to do is tell them in a VERY firm voice, "NO! That hurts."
I am amazed that some people still bite their child. If another child did that to their child, they'd be upset, but they think it is OK for them to do it.
Also, children bite for different reasons. My son was bit at school by a child who has bitten many times before. Sounds bad, huh? Well, the rest of the story is that this child is being "Stalked" by a very aggressive child in the class who jumps on the back of the other, smaller kids (not my son, he's tall). So this "biter" has been jumped on so many times every time he thinks he's being attacked, he does the only thing he can. He bites. My son is a "hugger". He came up behind the "biter" to hug him and the poor kid thought he was being attacked, so he bit my son.
I guess what I'm saying is you have to look at the big picture.
Some kids bite and some don't. When my dad was 2, he bit my mom who was an infant. I guess it was true love from the git-go! lol
Good luck and best wishes.

She bites because it works for her. No one has done what it takes to make her NOT BITE!! IM not talking about biting her back either..I think that is absolutley ridicilious and is a total contradiction.. When she bites...tell her that's not OK. Desperate measures..hot sauce on the tongue. I did that when my son was spitting on people. It only took two times for him to learn. Biting is NOT NORMAL!!! It's not a stage..it's a behavorial issue that needs to be addressed and corrected.

Cutting teeth.. unless it is malicious. There was a little bratty kid that bit my baby because she wanted his toy, and her parents didn't say anything and her sister told my son, "she is only 1"... She was a brat.

When did this all start. You need to understand what and why the tantrum started. Yes it maybe teething but it may also be because he is seeking attention.
Found info to understand and solution on this toddler tantrum behaviour

Having teeth is still somewhat new to them at this age and they are just exploring what they can do with them.
