What makes you think the voice wasn't referring to the movie? Its a bit presumptuous to think that whatever was talking to you can't talk to you just as easily through a movie as through something else.

There are plenty of good parables/examples within the movie: redepmtion, emphasis of family, bond between father and son, a rumination about those who choose the sword, questions of loyalty. Are you absolutely sure that the voice wasn't trying to get your attention via the movie?

In biblical terms, the road to perdition is simply that which leads a person down the wayward path. It also gave rise to the saying "the road to hell (perdition, a fancy word for it) is paved with good intentions."

Take your pick.

Like the top answer, it's a film. Quite a good one. The fact you heard it means you overheard someone, you are imagining things, or you are hearing voices.

Your TV was turned on. Did the voice speaking these words sound like Paul Newman's?

.

Like Cain in Genesis. When he departed from the LORD, that was the road to perdition, to reprobation!

A reprobate are those whom God gave up.....see Romans ch1.
