If the area you live is dangerous enough to warrant the purchase of a vest, you may want to consider moving. Also, you should be relying on a defensive firearm in such a situation, instead of a silly vest. Leave the bullet proof vests to LEO's and soldiers. You don't need one. Common sense, and the ability to use a firearm, are greater than any bulletproof vest on the market.

I do not know much about these vests either, but you say you found a website selling them so, why not just go into the website and ask them. I'm sure they'll give you the info you need along with a lot more, ie, explain grading system, the right sizing, prices, etc. If they don't then I would not suggest doing any business with them.

If you are talking "soft" vest, that is, one without a "trauma" plate, it won't stop ANY rifle round period. It's been years since I wore a vest, but if memory serves, you can go to the "second chance" site for the ratings on what the different levels will stop.

Armored piercing will do a job on a person, even if the metal trauma plate is installed in the vest.

It really depends if you have armore plates. I have seen a smal arms protective insert stop one 7.62 X 39, but after that the plate is pretty much done. Be careful, in some states, having body armor(as a civilian), is a big no-no. Just dont get caught.
