Anorexia is different from bulimia, which is what i think you are talking about. With anorexia, the person thinks they are fat and eats as little as possible in order to lose weight. Bulimia starts with a similar mindset to anorexia, but someone affected by bulimia goes on food binges or eats a meal as normal, and then forces themselves to throw up afterwards. Bulimia and anorexia often go hand in hand. A bulimia sufferer would not normally make themselves throw up because they are hungry - for one thing there would be nothing to throw up and they would normally just deny themselves food if they are hungry. Hope that helps you.

No, generally a person with anorexia won't induce vomiting when they are hungry. Anorexia nervosa is an illness in which the sufferer is alarmingly thin, yet sees themself as overweight and needing to lose more weight. Anorectics may restrict their intake or overexercise. However, they can also purge. One way to do this is to use laxatives or water pills. Another way is to throw up. Typically, a person with anorexia will purge AFTER eating, not before.

Anorexia is where a person greatly limits their food intake... for example, will eat only 1 apple and nothing else all day.
Bulimia is where after eating, a person will make themselves sick to get rid of the food.

There would be no point in throwing up when hungry like you say... what would it do!? There'd be nothing to throw up anyway

It could be due to anorexia, it could be bulimia or it could be something else entirely. I went through a stage of trying to make myself sick even when I hadn't eaten anything. It was what I did instead of eating, the act of it was enough to punish me for my 'weakness' when I felt hungry, whilst the fact that I didn't bring up anything but bile made me feel 'pure,' just the same as I do when I purge after a binge. If you know someone who does this, or who you think has an eating disorder, whether that be you or anybody else then please encourage them to seek help. Doing this does awful things to your body and takes over your life.

That doesn't make sense. If they are anorexic and hungry, that must mean their stomach is empty. Why would they throw up?

Maybe; some people go back and forth between anorexia and bulimia.

they make themselves throw up AFTER they eat, which causes anorexia. then, they can't help but throw up when they eat because they are anorexic.
