yes BMI works!! dont listen to anyone who tells you it doesnt. BMI detects how much fat you have in your body. a healthy range would be 18-24% anything over is overweight/obese.
i think you should start a healthy diet and exercise program. if you want a plan i can make one for you just email me at heather_0801@yahoo.com :)

You don't need me, BMI, or Yahoo to tell you you're heavy. You already know that. There's no point in my guessing a number.
I'm guessing you've never been an athlete, and have never been at your ideal weight, because even the pics of your 'desired' weight show 20-30 pounds you'd never miss.
Where to start? Evaluate your diet and start over, minus the Coke. Exercise needs to become a habit. Preferrably something you like to do..... a lot. You may even need new friends that have similar habits. Some people run. Some bike, some hike. I dropped 40lbs by taking up triathlon, and in the process got to my college wrestling weight (142) in my 40's. Yes, it is possible to look and feel like you're 18 again (except for the thinning gray hair of course)
It ain't easy to start, but once the new lifestyle becomes habit you don't notice, and you don't really have to live like a monk. If you're in shape, the occasional night of beer and pizza isn't a big deal, because you can go out and burn 2000 calories the next day without killing yourself.
See below. No, I'm not anorexic, or even close. At my level of activity, I lose weight on 3000 calories a day. No, its not genetic. I'm the only one in my family under 200 lbs, women included.
You CAN do it. If you want it bad enough.

BMI is a height/weight ratio and it's just a "guideline" - BMI's are good for most people but will not always work (example: weightlifters, pregnant women, etc).
I think fixating on weight is an unhealthy practice because you struggle to reach a "number" which may or may not be the healthiest weight for you. I looked at your pictures and you are a beautiful girl and I think you would feel better about yourself if you started incorporating healthier habits into your life, you'd also drop weight. Don't think of living healthier as something temporary you do to lose weight or it won't work, think of it as a lifestyle change. Here are some of my tips to get started:
1. Eat healthier. Take a multi-vitamin everyday. Drink 6-8 glasses of water and cut out drinks like soda (even diet soda - there have been studies that show that diet soda will make you gain weight). Eat a serving of fruit or vegetables with every meal. Try not to eat processed foods (preservatives also keep unwanted pounds on your body). Limit starches and refined carbs (white bread, sugar, etc).
2. Exercise. Find exercise you like and stick with it. You also want to lift. Girls will not get bulky unless they start bodybuilding and muscle burns fat. Exercise will pick up your mood and burn calories. Try to exercise for 30 minutes 3-5 times a week. The hardest part is getting started. Try out a gym that offers exercise classes and try them all. Sometimes, you just need a little motivation to get started.
3. Don't expect immediate results. Diets that have dramatic results will cause you to gain weight back in the end. A lifestyle changes helps you to look better, feel better and help you to shed pounds and keep them off.
It may help you to find a friend to do this with!

bmi is not a good indicator since it does not recognize that muscle weighs more than fat and does not take up nearly as much space. I am 5'6" and weigh 145. I wear a size 4-6. My bmi says i'm borderline fat, which i assure you i am not. i work out 5-6 days a week. I eat very healthfully. I can run a mile in 4 min. I benchpress 100 lbs.
Eat healthfully, do cardio and lift weights and forget about bmi!!! Most of all don't let a number dictate who or what u are. Good luck

BMI doesn't work as well as people think. For example, a bodybuilder could way 300 lbs, all of it being muscle. If he's six feet tall, BMI says he's obese. Most women don't follow BMI because the healthy area for them is too much. I myself shouldn't talk, I'm under my healthy BMI. Ah well, I digress..
It's just a chart. Most skinny people are very healthy because they have such high metabolisms and thermogenetic processes that anything they consume just doesn't affect them. The best way to increase thermogenesis and overall metabolism is drinking more water. And yes, caffeine before workouts does help too.

I'd say around 180-200 lbs. right now. BMI's only consider weight. The BMI doesn't show that muscle weighs more than fat. Someone that is very muscular might be considered overweight on the BMI. Someone that has little muscle and alot of fat could be healthy. I'd say not to go by BMI or weight. Just decide how much weight you want to lose by how you look.

I wouls say you weigh about 189.
You are cute. You have a nice smile and look very perky (coming from a straight girls view)
As for dieting tips, try taking walks every morning & night after dinner, you'd be surprised how much it pays off. Another way to do it is if you live by a large mall or zoo or something, take walks in there (the mall, before it opens)
I live in DC only a few minutes away from the national zoo so atlest twice a month I try to go walking in there.
Hope this helped :]

that's actually a healthful weight for a woman. remember a woman is meant to be slightly "thick". you besides mght have a thick physique (enormous boned, is the term individuals use) so your weight is in all threat spot-on healthful. Having length D-breasts might additionally make contributions lots on your weight. So in simple terms save eating healthful and workout in many cases devoid of going overboard. Your physique sheds the fat it would not want, then once you get to the proper element, you have a tendency to end dropping fat at an excellent fee such as you as quickly as did.

Well-I don't know how tall you are which would make a big difference in predicting your weight, but I don't know why you would put yourself through this anyway. You know how much you weigh, and if you want to lose weight, just do it. Choose a healthy diet--not a fad diet, because those don't work for long term weight loss. Good luck sweetie--btw--I think you are a cutie.

Yes, BMI is a crock. It doesn't take into account the person's build.
You look good in the April 28th photo. Bear in mind, as you grow older, you won't ever be able to achieve that exact weight or appearrance, but yes, you should be able to come close.
