is that really necessary as i dont have a metal one and need to make my dessert soon.

Absolutely necessary. Also make sure the bowl is TOTALLY clean and dry. Any residue of grease or other substance will cause your meringue to flop and not stiffen properly. Make sure the egg whites are room temperature too. Good luck!

It is best in a bowl that is glass metal or china. The main thing is it should be scrupulously clean from all fat and especially egg yolk. The whites will refuse to whip up and stiffen otherwise. Good luck.

Glass or ceramic/ metal taste sometime tranferes to product..
and give it bad taste...

what does matter is that u baet the white egg until it really2 fluffy!
