can I watch regular cable on a LCD TV or will I need a HD box??

If your TV has tuners (not an HD ready set, which have none), then yes-you can watch analog cable TV without a box. If your TV also has a QAM tuner, then you can watch cable digital TV, withouit a box, including HDTV, although you won't be able to get encrypted channels like HBO.

high definition tv does not come about until 2009.
you can watch regular cable i am pretty sure on a lcd tv.
