My cat just appeared in my garage a year ago and I've taken her in from then. Shes had 2x litters, this hasn't been a problem as I've always managed to give the kittens off to my friends who are eager to have one, however lately shes been wanting to go outside forever and sometimes don't come back at night and sometimes I can hear her yelling (mating) during the night and this has been really annoying. I was wondering if she will continue to mate and thus yell, if I send her a visit to the vet. TIA

thanks for all the replies, I will have her fixed asap, mainly cause a user mentioned that it'll damage her health and she'll be able to live longer without strays and feral cats spreading diseases on her. Thanks to all for the heads up.

She will no longer mate, you will no longer have to put up with the yelling, find homes for the babies and she will stay at home. So please go ahead and take her to a visit to the vet. Plus since she will no longer roam looking for "love" she will be less likely to get sick, hurt or diseased. Her health will be better and her life expectancy will be longer. A vet bill for neutering is alot cheaper than a vet bill for all of the others. Good luck and enjoy her. They are great pets.

My male cat is fixed and will still go out to play around with the local ladies, not returning for 1 or 2 nights.
Im guessing if you lady is used to going outside now, getting her fixed wouldnt change anything other than you not having to worry about giving away kittens. But with the overpopulation of kittens and cats without homes, I would recommend you getting her fixed.

Good Luck

No she will not be able to mate after she is fixed (or make that terrible noise)...

Actually, it would be in her best interest to get her fixed. If she has too many litters it could actually hurt her (or kill her)...

I would get her fixed as soon as possible.

Your cat may still try to mate but she cannot mate. If you want more kittens then don't get her fixed yet. Otherwise, GET HER FIXED!!!

Get her fixed!! I have five cats that are fixed, two girls and 3 boys, and they won't mate, and also by getting them fixed it makes them a lot calmer, and more trainable.

I would get her fixed. After she gets fixed, she shouldn't want to go out the door anymore. It works w/ my cats. Now they are real cuddle and don't want anything to do on the outside at all.

Please get her spayed immediately. She will no longer mate with other cats if you get her spayed and we really don't need more cats in the world.
