I am 36 years old and have suffered fro the last ten years or so.I get headaches that escalate so bad that i violently throw up and my head feels like it's gonna burst. My bp and pulse go up sky high. When they are severe like this i have to go to the ER where i am treated like a junkie, sometimes they dont treat me at all, they give me 2 ultram and tell me to go home and sleep. The few docs who do treat me give me iv fluids, for the pail they give me diiaudid and iv phenergan for the nausea. The pail is so intense it sometimestakes 2 shots of dilaudid to work.I am at my wits end,i.ve seen so many neuros, tried so many migraine meds, antidepressants, pretty much exhausted every option.I have seen several docs and they all seem to play the same recording. They all say narcotics are not the answer but what du you do when they are the only meds that work?I live in the MB area of S.C.knows a pain doc who aint afraid to do narcotic long term treatment for headaches, please tell me.(Please Help Me)

Have they done an MRI? Have they tried you on Imitrex in either injections, nasal inhaler or pill form?
Is your blood pressure normal at all other times?
Have you tried keeping a journal to see if there are certain triggers?
And lastly, I know it may sound odd for a guy, but have you had hormone tests done? Yes even men can get hormones out of balance and trigger migraines. Email me and we can chat.

1. When is the last time you had a headache? Couple of years (regular one) 2. What did you take for your headache? Advil 3. When is the last time you had a hangover headache? About a week ago 4. What worked for this headache? Time 5. What doesn't work at all for your headaches? Banging my head against a wall 6. Do you get dull headaches or throbbing headaches? I usually do not ever get headaches. When I do (regular ones) they are usually dull. A hot bath or real good massage works wonders. A chiropractor may help too to get you back in working order!

I'M NOT INTO DRUGS SO I CAN ONLY TELL YOU A COUPLE NATURAL WAYS I USE. THEY HAVE WORKED FOR ME SO I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING BEYOND THAT. FOR ME, I AM EITHER LOW IN IRON OR CALCIUM. BOTH INCLUDE HEADACHES. I AM A WOMEN SO IF I AM HAVING HEADACHES AROUND THE TIME OF MY PERIOD, IT'S BECAUSE OF MY PERIOD(THE LOSS OF BLOOD).I KNOW I NEED TO BUILD BACK UP MY IRON LEVEL. SO FOR A COUPLE DAYS I TAKE 18MG OF IRON WITH 1000MG OF VIT. C.ALONG WITH MY MULTI. THE VIT. C HELPS THE IRON BE ABSORBED WAY BETTER.
THAT USUALLY WORKS FOR ME BUT IF AFTER ABOUT 4 HRS IT HASN'T WORKED THEN I TAKE 2000MG OF CALCIUM THAT HAS 1000MG MAGNESIUM IN IT. THEY WORK TOGETHER AS WELL. ONE OF THESE TWO USUALLY WORK.
ONCE HOWEVER, I HAD A MIGRAINE. I WAS IN MY CAR AND GOT REAR-ENDED. THIS TURNED OUT TO BE WHIPLASH. I WENT TO A CHIROPRACTOR AND BEFORE I WAS OFF THE TABLE THE MIGRAINE I HAD HAD FOR DAYS WAS GONE.
HOPE THIS WORKS FOR YOU. SORRY I CAN'T HELP WITH ANY DRUGS-I JUST DON'T DO THEM. I HAVE READ THAT IF YOU ARE LOW ON FATTY ACIDS YOU CAN GET HEADACHES. ONE WAY YOU KNOW IF YOU ARE LOW, IS IF YOU GET A SUN BURN IN THE SUMMER. IF YOU ARE BURNING OR USING SUNSCREEN, YAHOO: COCONUT OIL. YOU WILL BE AMAZED AT WHAT YOU WILL LEARN ABOUT THE OILS WE'VE BEEN EATING.(THEY ARE RANCID FROM THE GET GO)HOPE THIS HELPS.
ONE LAST THING I SUGGEST IS DANDELION ROOT. AFTER OR WHILE YOU HAVE TAKEN DRUGS, IT IS BEST TO CLEAN YOUR LIVER. IF BY CHANCE YOU HAVE TAKEN ANTIBIOTICS PLEASE TAKE PROBIOTICS. NOT THE ONES IN YOGURT OR ON THE TV COMMERCIALS BUT NATREN.I RECOMMEND NATEN HEALTHY TRINITY(YAHOO IT, AS WELL AS PROBIOTICS). AND NEXT TIME YOU THINK YOU NEED AN ANTIBIOTIC TAKE THIS FIRST. YOU'LL KNOW YOU NEED HEALTHY TRINITY IF YOU HAVE BLOATING, GAS, STINKY POOP, OR BELCHING.

I used to get headaches on a daily basis for a period of 10 - 15 years. Nobody could tell me why. I had every test known to man kind. My head aches were no where near as bad as yours. Then one day I had to have a tooth pulled out, because I chipped it so badly and couldn't afford the repairs...lol. The dentist gave me a huge amount of needles to try and numb the tooth but it didn't work. He said I had very sensitive nerves in that area. Anyway they put me under and pulled the tooth out. I have not had a headache since that day (two years now). The explanation I got was that the tooth was putting pressure on the nerve even though (at the time) there was nothing wrong with the actual tooth itself, and when I did have the headaches, they did not seem to stem from the mouth/jaw area.......go figure!

You are suffering from severe migraines and you need to go to a neurologist. They can do tests to find out why you are having them and why they are severe. I take Indural, which is a Beta Blocker, and that has help drastically reduce the number of migraines that I have. I used to get 4 or 5 a month and now I get them just every once in a while. When I do get one, I take Zomig, which makes it go away in about 20 minutes. The trick to taking Zomig is eat something when you take it or you will feel drunk for several hours afterwards. Doctors don't tell you that muchless acknowlege the drunk feeling that migraine medications leave behind.

I feel very bad for you, that you have had to endure this pain for so long. I don't think going to Yahoo Answers is the best way to go for a medical problem as severe as this one. But the advice I can give you is this:
You are probably suffering from severe migraines and you need to go to a neurologist. You can take Indural, Nonprescription (over-the-counter) medications, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or acetaminophen combined with aspirin and caffeine, Prescription nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and analgesics, including narcotics and non-narcotics. You say you've been to doctors, have you been to any psychologists? These headaches could be tension headaches but i highly doubt that if they are so severe. Since you seem to have exhausted out any options that are available, the only other option I can think of is sending a description of your pain to the discovery health community, and maybe they can find something out. I know it sounds outrageous and unrealistic, but you seem to have very little choice left. Good Luck and I hope you find a cure! ♥

Your best solution is to go with a neurologist that is a headache specialist. He will explain you how headaches ought to be treated. Good neurologists are not "afraid" of using narcotics, the problem with narcotics is that is a "non-sense" and illogical way to treat chronic pain, it will make your headaches to be worse and worse. For your own good, they are recommending for you not use narcotics. There is no day/night solution for your problem. Give time to the time, see the specialist and your life will be a normal life..
Good luck
