Tribbles! Tribbles are mysteriously absent from the new and old testaments, the book of Enoch, the dead sea scrolls and the instruction booklet for a Gunsens stroboscopic timing light. Whilst Kirk and crew are knee deep in tribbles the Roman Catholics have had to struggle on with a few mangy fluffins and a photograph of a twenty pound note.

There is no basis for comparison. Being a "Trekkie" is a hobby, not a religion. A "Trekkie" is generally socially inept, of very high intelligence, and low self esteem, and enjoys the fruits of Gene Roddenberry's considerable talent and labor. A "Trekker" is generally of fair to high intelligence and normal self esteem, and also enjoys Roddenberry's work.
A Christian is often happy to be led around by the nose by his minister. Christians tend to be all over the place intellectually, though the ones who insist that others must change to be like them tend to be dumber than the others.

Trekkies get to explore the galaxy through a fictional universe, Christians believe in a fictional religion and explore nothing.

Trekkie's know their will be another movie or series in their life time. Christians have been waiting years for the coming soon to a place near you Jesus. This may not be in their life time. It could be life time Jim but not as we know it.

They are not irreconcilable. And having known a few, I can tell you that the politically correct terminology is TREKKER. They'll shoot you with their phasers for calling them Trekkies. Seriously.
