It is very hard to steer, does this mean I will need another power steering pump or that just the hose is busted? Thank you!

It could be a broken hose. The pump should be ok. Put some fluid and see where the problem is. And if nothing is broken then it will work properly. If it holds fluid, and it still steers hard with the pump running (belt turning) then the pump would be bad. But I haven't seen many pumps go out in my lifetime. (actually none).

I'm not there so I can't say where it is leaking from. Also you don't say what size of Ford truck you are asking about, but if it is found to be leaking from the reservior and it is a road tractor, then the p/s filter inside the reservoir is stopped up and needs replacing. On a pickup size truck, turning the steering wheel without the engine running will force fluid out of the reservoir>

If you force turning the steering wheel with the engine off Fords will push fluid out. Get the fluid level filled back with proper fluid I think Dextron 3 will work depending on the year of truck

Well if the hose is leaking then replace it or if the pump is leaking then replace that. If you don't know which one is leaking then take it to shop that can look at it for you and determine what part(s) need to be taken care of. Another thing I just thought of is your power steering cap. Most if not all are made of plastic and can sometimes crack. Not likely, but it could be. I'd look at that first.

there is a possibility that there is something wrong with the pump or a hose, fill it back up and see if it holds the fluid
