What are really my options?Should I or shouldn't I say at least goodbye to him or leave him without a word or anything.What I mean is I still don't want him to feel any pain inspite of his attitude towards me.Pls. tell me.

In some situations the best thing to do is not to say a thing, if it has been a case of disrespect and/or abuse. If it is simply a drifting apart - and there is the drift on both parts - then meeting with the person can be appropriate. But if the individual would not take this well, then a note must do. Whether verbal or writing, edit the words down to as few as possible.

I think you should at least give him the respect of talking to him and say goodbye. It is the humanely thing to do. It would cause him more pain if you just leave him without a word.

Well, i think you should definitely go to him and say him goodbye. I understand, that you don't want him to be in pain, and for that case, it would be the best that you directly go and tell him , that you don't like his attitude towards you and you should bid him a GOODBYE.
