The church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints have many similar and distinct beliefs which other christian churches may agree or disagree with us.

1. The Trinity, We call it the Godhead The Father, The Son and the Holy Ghost are three personages that make up the Godhead. Other churches believe the Father, The Son and the Holy Ghost are three personages that are one in essence and substance. (Nicean Creed A.D. 325)

2. Extra revelation. We Believe in the Bible as it is translated correctly, The Book of Mormon, The Doctrine & Covenants and The Pearl Of Great Price and any new revelation that God may reveal to our prophet. Protestants believe in the bible only, Catholics Believe in the Papal edicts, tradition and the Bible and The eastern Orthodox churches believe in tradition and the bible.

3 Temple work. We believe that we can baptize by proxy dead relatives and Marry for time and all eternity with our spouses and family. Oher Christian churches don't believe in temple work.

4. Priesthood Authority- We believe John The Baptist gave the Aaronic Priesthood to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery and Peter, James & John gave to Melchizadek Priesthood to J.S. and O.C. as well to restore the Priesthood authority back to earth. Other churches don't believe that.

Any other help you need please email me.

Also some myths perpetuated on LDS doctrine by ignorant or malichious people

1. God is an exalted Man. Yes we are created in his image.
2. Jesus was born of a virgin Mary. His Father was the God the Father and by his power not sexual relations made Mary Pregnant.
3. We did not come into existance as spirit children by sexual relations by God the Father and his many wives.
We have always existed. We were intelligences and progressed by the power of God not by sexual relations to be spirits. As far as we know there is only one Heavenly Mother.
4. God is omnipresent, & omnipotent. There is Kolob mentioned in the book of Abraham that is where God dwells but that is not a planet.

To sum it up, they believe their was a prophet in American back in the day called Joseph Smith. Some of the things they think are very different from normal Christianity. Cept they still read the normal bible to even though they read the book of mormon. they used to, and are kind of famous for having multiple wives. But the main group of mormons don't allow it anymore and kick you out if you do. If your a mormon and a young man generally you take like a 2 year trip and try to spread their word. Also most mormons give 10% of all the money they earn to their church. They also have a few good colleges that are much easier to get into if your also a mormon.

their also pretty strict about no sex before marriage. Also alot of mormons don't drink caffeine, or drink alcohol.
I'd look more into it though, i'm kinda of just trying to give you the gist of it. I'm not mormon btw, but I have a close friend that is.

Since the Mormon Church believes it is the only true Christian Church, it should not attempt to publicly present itself as a part of a broader Christian community. Instead it should tell the world openly that those who claim to be orthodox Christians are not really Christians at all, and that the Mormon Church is the only true Christian Church. This in fact is what it teaches privately, but not publicly.

The Mormon church denies Judeo/Christian doctrines and instead relies on revelations from "the dead." The first Mormon "prophet" Joseph Smith was an occultist and a necromancer. Mormons believe the lie from the serpent in the Garden of Eden (they claim Adam and Eve's fall wasn't really a fall or sin, but a fall "upwards") and that if they follow Lucifer's plan as layed out in the secret occult temple rituals and invoke his priesthood powers and wear the magic Masonic underwear, that they will evolve into gods. They do not pray to Jesus Christ, they do not worship Jesus Christ as God, they do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, they are not Christians. The polygamist human-god they believe in is the father of Satan who had incestual sex with his daughter Mary who naturally conceived Jesus. The Mormon god does not have the power to create but can only manipulate matter. The Jesus they believe in is the brother of Satan and Mormons themselves believe they are part of Satan's family. Check out all the Satanic symbols (and notice the lack of anything Christian) on the Mormon temples and it gives you a clue as to what goes on inside and what spirit this organization operates in.

You must have the missionaries come over and get the discussions. You've heard somewhat and anticipate plenty. There are four or five of them and so they final 30-forty five mins every. That will solve lots of your misconceptions and deliver you a larger suppose for what Mormons are and aren't. a million. There is not any "Mormon heaven". Mormons will probably be in every "subject" of heaven as good as non-Mormons. Those within the maximum degree of Heaven need to obtain Christ's gospel and obtain the suitable ordinances. two. There are honestly three stages of heaven, every with a couple of degrees. three. Mormons suppose a individual dating with Christ is ESSENTIAL four. Like dogs emerge as like thier father and mother, we have now the capacity to emerge as like ours. God is our loving father and wishes us to have all that he has. five. Mormons strain schooling AND missions. BYU is a Mormon owned and operated tuition with approximately 35,000 pupils. There are a quantity of different Mormon colleges. Our prophet has influenced us to get as so much schooling as viable. Another stated that we must study from the first-class books. Educations may be very harassed. 6. a million in 50 Americans are Mormons. They make up the 4th biggest Church within the US. They aren't a cult to any extent further or not up to every other equipped faith. US presidents in most cases meet with the Mormon prophets and leaders. 7. Most Mormons welcome questions concerning our religion (so long as they are no longer adverse or mocking). You can ask your buddy whatever that you simply desire. We are commonly keen to solve misconceptions and lift concentration. eight. Take one of the solutions you can get with a grain of salt. There are a few humans that do not like Mormons and purposefully unfold lies and partial truths.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormonism) is a beautiful Christian religion. Before I begin, let me say that many of the previous answers to your question are completely wrong. You should be extremely careful when trying to learn about Mormons from others. There are many who hate the Mormons and spread lies, distortions, and conspiracy theories about them. Others think they understand Mormon doctrine because of "what they've heard," but are actually misinformed. I think learning about Mormonism from actual Mormons (from Mormon missionaries, from Mormon members, or from sites created and maintained by Mormons on the Internet) is much better than trusting second-hand information.

Because Mormons are Christian, we believe in most of the things that Christians believe, including:

1) Christ is divine and salvation comes only through Him.
2) The Bible is the word of God.
3) Men ought to love one another.

Mormons are a unique branch of Christianity, however. We are neither Catholic nor Protestant, so naturally we have some different beliefs. Most of the differences are minor. One significant difference has to do with the authority to act in God's name. Mormons believe that soon after the death of Christ and His apostles, the early Christian Church was greatly influenced by Greek and Roman philosophies and political pressures. Despite the efforts of many good men and women, the true Church of Christ was eventually lost because of these outside pressures and internal, man-made changes. Mormons believe that God reestablished the original Church of Christ in 1820 through a man named Joseph Smith.

Hope this helps! Mormon Christianity has changed my life by helping me better follow Jesus Christ.

i don't believe it's as different as everyone makes it out to be. to me, the Book of Mormon just reaffirms all the Bible tells us. The Church of Latter Day Saints I believe is the true church....and if more people opened their minds to it and not believe all the rumors and stereotypes, they'd see how wonderful the Church is. I've never felt so welcome and cared for in any other church, and believe me, i've been to a few different ones. This one, my heart always tells me, is THE church, the true church.
Oh, and we do believe in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit (that's the trinity someone mentioned....) and no we're not nuts. Once again....rumors and stereotypes.

We are very different in some aspects, and similar in others. We believe in the divinity of Christ. We believe He paid the ultimate price for each one of us, and through Him, we to can gain eternal life and exaltation. We don't believe in the trinity, but in the Godhead- Heavenly Father, Chris and the Holy Ghost. Three separate, distinct beings with the same purpose.

We believe in the bible, but we also believe that God has the ability and power to continue to give us revelation, hence the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price. All of these are continued revelation from God. We believe that God still wants us to know things, and that the heavens aren't closed.

We don't believe in salvation by faith alone. We believe that through Christ's atonement, all men may be saved, but there are things we need to do to show God we accept that gift. One of those is repentance. Not one time repentance, but continual repentance through out our lives. We also believe that we must follow the commandments and laws that God has set up. Can we get to heaven without doing these things? Maybe. But I believe there is a reason why we have these things, and that they need to be followed to receive the full blessings of exaltation.

We also believe in Prophets. That God has called a prophet today, just as in olden days. He is the officiator of the church. He holds the keys to the priesthood, and is able to receive instruction from God. This goes along with the heavens still being opened. God still has things He wants us to know, for our times and our situations. We don't believe that God would just leave us alone, never to be heard from again. This is where the prophet, apostles and others in the church come in. We are all able to receive personal revelation. The prophet receives revelation for the whole church, as a collective, just as the prophets of the bible did.

If you would like a free copy of the Book of Mormon, you can go to the churches website listed below. You can order one and have it sent right to you. If you would like to learn more, feel free to either email me directly, or you can ask to have missionaries come to your home. Don't feel like they are there to convert you. They will just answer any questions you have.

Also, don't listen to people who aren't in the church. They have no idea what they are talking about. People who have left the church are probably not the best source of info either. There is a reason they left, and although most are wonderful people, some will stop at nothing to try to hurt the church or to show the church in a bad light. Be careful of this. There are a lot of websites out there both for and against the church. If you really want to know what we believe, go to the ones put out by either the church, or members of the church. One of these I have posted for you. It's a great site with lots of questions and answers.

One of the main differences between the church of JesusChrist of latter-day saints is that we believe that Just as the Lord spoke to prophets in times of old, he still continues to speak today to us, through modern day prophets.

Many people scoff at our beliefs or call us a cult because we have different beliefs than they do, but the fact of the matter is that you can know for a fact if what the church teaches is true or not, and you can learn it for yourself. that way you dont have to rely on what i, as a member tell you, or what people who are not members of the church might tell you.

If you want to find out more about the church, you can visit its website http://www.mormon.org

Its about Joseph Smith being told of a plates that contained the fukllness of the gospel. That had previously been removed from earth. He had it revealed to him, thus the BOM. That a very short version. They refer to it as another testament of Jesus Christ. It's very different from mainstrean Christianity. They believe in man's ability to attain Godhood, God having sex w/ virgin Mary to conceive Jesus, eternal families, polygamy in Heaven, women will have children(naturally) in Heaven eternally, they believe coffee/tea/smoking/alcohol to be a sin, they have also 3 additional books of "scripture-pearl of great price,doctrine/covenants,Holy Bible, the BOM is considered more accurate than any bk on earth(including the Bible) and is right if contradicts Bible. Families are obligated to send there sons on a 2 yr mission @ their own financial expense, they must also tithe 10% of ALL income to the church, they are directed to have no debts @ any time except a mortgage/car payment unless unavoidable, they are to keep a food storage of a yr supply in the basement @ all times, if @ all possible, to attain the highest level of Heaven they must marry in the temple, its a commandment of the church that people marry(there is someone for everyone, they say), they are directed to have children and as soon as possible after marriage, the Lord should decide their family size, not them. Also, missionaries should strive to be engaged or @ least in a suitable for marriage relationship 6 mos after they return from their mission, an engagement should be as short as possible, temple marriage should be the goal of every worthy mormon. Anyway, that should cover alot. They are kind, sincere people. They have alot of differences than mainstream religion. I'll stop now, but could go on and on.

Supposedly, Joseph Smith had a series of revelations from God and an angel named Moroni. Smith was told by them that all the existing churches (and other religions too) were wrong, and that he was to found a new one. He was given by them a new set of scriptures (Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants). Mormons claim these are "another Gospel".

Mormon beliefs -

a. God is an exaulted man. He used to be an ordinary man, but he worked his way up.

b. God lives on another planet, and has sex with thousands of Ms Gods who produce "spirit children", who are each put into the bodies of babies born. Jesus was one such. He's on his way up too. The individual has a chance to work himself/herself up to being a God too, if they do all the right things.

c. You have to get baptized and married in a temple. You have to do extensive geneology work in order to be baptized and templed married vicariously for dead people who didn't have (or wouldn't take) the chance in life.

d. You have to believe all other Christian denominations are wrong, and have actually been following Satan. (Won't even go into what they think of non-Christians). The true church (by which Mormons believe themselves) was actually driven underground, and was restored by Joseph Smith.

e. The death of Jesus on the cross only smoothes the process of those trying to be gods. It didn't take away their sin or restore them to God.

I'm not LDS, and not being catty. These are things they admit believing, maybe phrasing it better.

On the positive side - they are (usually) clean livers, honest, polite, intelligent and highly motivated.
