No-one is so sinless and opinion-less that they do not need tolerance from others; Hence we need to show tolerance to others in return.
(There is a very similar reason for why we should show mercy.)
Also, if no alternative views were tolerated, how would anything change or anyone develop?
Tolerance is not the same as compromise. It is possible to tolerate people with other beliefs without compromising your own.
Tolerance has its limits as well. For example, crime is criminal, even if it tries to hide behind a religious facade.

I can only imagine that you have completely isolated yourself from the world and have absolutely no idea about the everyday conflicts, suicide bombings, etc etc...all this is the result of no tolerance...its not something we need, its also what we want

Because Jesus preached that we should live in peace w/ all man, if at all possible. He taught tolerance,peace, and love.
