Your roads sound terrible. It must be worse than a roller coaster round your way. Thanks for your comments.

My car always needs suspension work for the mot tests and i blame the speed humps in the road for the strain they put onto the linkages. I'd go as far as to say that they are probably making my car unsafe to drive at times. They do more harm than good and I don't believe they save childrens lives by slowing vehicles down.
Teach the children to be more aware when crossing the roads.

Yes I agree with you I do think some sleeping policemen are to high, I think there should be a standard height across the country so when you come to a traffic calming area you would know what to expect and slow down accordingly .For example if all at the same standard height you can approach the first one safely at lets say 15 mph, you can approach
all sleeping policemen safely at that same speed, after all that
is the purpose of them I thought to make you slow down safely

Funny terminology for road humps, traffic slowing devices. Americans use the term speed bump. Yes I scrape the exhaust clamps U bolts. Humps Bumps everyone needs to file a class action lawsuit world wide to eliminate Sleeping policeman speed bumps to recover damage to suspension and shock absorbers

I've known some to be as high at the kerb, no joke, and it isn't like there is a gradual slope to these things either. It's quite strange when a speed bump forces you to a crawl in a thirty zone, then they wonder why there is so much congestion.
Low cars are often forced to stop and turn around, another inconvinience, because they just can't get over them. they'd end up see-sawing, unable to get off, if they make it onto one.

Yep - I think many are way over the top. We've now got ones called 'table top' speed humps and these are huge. They are wide enough for a zebra crossing to be on them and are twice as high as normal humps. Sainsburys put one in the car park approach and had several complaints and claims from car drivers who had damaged their cars xxxx

Yes. Some of the ones in Glasgow are almost as high as the potholes are deep!
Which raises the point that since most of our city streets are in such a bad state of repair anyway, I don't really notice speed bumps, they're just another 'thump' as you drive.

I think so too. It would be really easy to 'ground' a low profile vehicle. I have thought about this, but because I drive a 4x4 it doesn't happen to me, but I have followed other people in other cars and it has made me go, 'ooh! a few times!
