why can't people just agree to disagree and leave it at that? There's no need for athiests to call religiuos people idiots for believing in a god, and nor should religiuos people tell anyone who doesn't believe the same things they do that they are wrong and are going to hell.

You are correct when you say that everyone has the right to believe what they want, what I object to is when people try to push their beliefs onto me.
Religious belief is a deeply personal thing, please keep it that way.

Whinge, whinge, whinge.

1. Nobody's keeping you from logging off, or checking out the Cats site or something less controversial.

2. I like the rugby scrum feel of this place. If I want an argument, I come here. If I want to be surrounded by people who think like I do, I could, I don't know, stay on campus more, I guess. The controversy is interesting.

3. The Christians think it's their sacred obligation to annoy us until we repent and accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Saviour. I can't speak for all atheists by any means, but I'm here to point out that the Christians' vaunted beliefs in God have roughly the same support as those of Santa Claus. The sheep want goats to be sheep, too. The goats just want the sheep to stop bleating.

4. Everyone has the right to believe whatever they want. What they do not have, however, is the right to impose that silliness on the rest of us. I'd really like to be able to buy alcohol without having to remember whether or not it's someone else's holy day.

5. You say 'childish comments', I say 'wisdom from the mouths of babes'.

The fact that R&S is primarily Christian vs. atheist stems from the fact that the vast majority of bored, computer literate English speakers are one or the other.

I promise i'm no longer googling right here. i do no longer agree that solutions to this are going to realize something. i'm a christian and that i will purely answer question 3. i'm going to provide it a crack besides. Christian Questions: a million) That concept of evolution is in accordance with "survival of the fittest". With the earth being so huge, the environmental outcomes on species differed from place to place. permit's say that interior the Northern hemisphere nutrition fell off a tree with a mild shake while interior the Southern hemisphere it had to be pulled no longer difficulty-free from severe-up timber. residing interior the Southern hemisphere might mean that people who could climb and pull fruit from timber might proceed to exist and people who could no longer does no longer. So some monkeys devoid of the could adapt survived. 2) i might wager that microevolution pertains to difficulty-free adaptive differences in a species while macroevolution skill the extinction of one and the thriving of yet another. 3) forced Christians to look after their faith and answer questions they does no longer have had to while the King in simple terms prescribed the national faith. 4) Mmmm... Atheist = against the concept of God Non-theist = no longer believing in a God stable/vulnerable = energetic/Passive?

because they are the most vocal... I have to agree with those who dislike being told they are going to Hell every other sentence just because I do not share the same belief systems as these so called Christians tend to do. Telling someone they are going to burn for eternity because they believe differently than you tends to get their back up. As I'm sure being told that your religion is full of ****

With all sincerity, let's for one second think about what you just said..."no one belief is right for everyone.." this is not correct.

If something is "True," by definition it is indisputable, and must apply to everyone.

Here's the simplest example:

If Atheism is true, then no wishing and hoping on earth would ever be able to change this, and it would mean that every single religion on the planet would therefore be completely and utterly false. It would mean that with death comes nothing...all life would in essence be meaningless, and we would have no purpose except to find pleasure in every manner we could before our spark of life was extinguished forever.

If Christianity is Truth, then it means that Atheism is completely and utterly false, and that every other religion on earth is false, based upon the doctrine of Christ, based upon the Bible. If Christianity is Truth, then it is our responsibility as commanded by God to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the world, with any who will hear it, so that as many can have the opportunity to be saved from the penalty of their sins against God as possible. We operate, as do atheists, under the assumption that our faith is the right one, that it is Truth. Our motivation is different because we are called by God to share our faith. Atheists argue against us for whatever reason...I cannot guess that they would truly want anyone to go to hell if it is real, so I can only assume they do it because they want to try and prove some point.

In any case, Christians are supposed to be motivated out of love and compassion for their fellow human beings...knowing that we are all sinners, and that no one deserves the gift that God so lovingly offers continuously to the world in Jesus Christ, but that all people deserve to know that there is an option to avoid paying the penalty for living lives that rebel against God's Commandments. God's option of Salvation by faith in Christ.

Atheists do whatever they want as if there was no life after death, and their purpose in evangelizing their faith is truly bewildering to me as they are not called to do so. Perhaps they like the attention we give them because we are trying to reach them. I honestly believe that some truly want to believe...so in some small way, we are mutually engaged with one another for better or worse.

Take Care

Yeah, there is a lot. We can't let each other be because our beliefs are completely opposite to each other. And they centre around the foolishness going off in real life in the US.

I think these are just people who like to fight and will not accept any views that are outside of what they understand or believe. Reading them gets pretty boring.

I agree,

Three of my pet peeves are

Christians being told that they are stupid.
Atheists being told they have no morals
Agnostics being told they are wishy-washy.
