Usually if you dream, It means you were sleeping. nyuk nyuk, its just random imagination floating along threads in the synoptic pathways of your brain. If you want them to change all you have to do is have light classical music playing in the background, this way your imagination has something to grab onto. It really works, in fact its the only way I can let go, asleep at all.

the best way to figure out the meaning of a dream, is to make your OWN determination of it. I know that may sound kinda' lame, but one thing you could do (which I also do) is to create a "dream log". It's not always the most convenient thing to do, but if you have the time, then when you wake up in the morning, before you even get out of bed, is to think about your dream and try to recall the end of the dream and go backwards as you recall the details. Then, write down what it was about, and keep it in the present tense.. "I'm doing this, I'm doing that.." NOT... "I did this, I did that".
Additionally, I also try to put what I did (not everything, just any major events) every day on a page of the journal as well. I usually put my day events on the left page of a notebook, and then use the right page to describe any dreams I had.
This will not only help you with recalling more dreams in more detail in the future, but then you can also compare your dreams to events in your past and future and try to make connections to any overall themes in your lifetime.
So perhaps the main thing for you to take note of in this dream, is not necessarily that you are a man, but the things that you are doing in your dream, etc.

Hey Alice In Wonderland, (not the Alice?),
For a girl to dream of being a man signifies a feeling, real or imagined, of insecurity. You think things would be better if you were a 'man'. As a man, in the real world and in dreamland, it is not so.
Focus on your your strengths and count your blessings, you will find plenty to feel good about yourself and the insecurity will fade in time...

Projecting being in a different gender may show symbol of identity crisis. However, this may imply that there is some jealous in you. In other words, things you can't get in life, you may be feeling rejected. Projecting the opposite sex shows emotionally you want to put your role into someone else. That is like telling yourself that you are feeling helpless

if you beleive in reincarnation it could be memories of a past life
if you beleive in the paranormal you could be picking up an old thought from a spirit you cant see thats near you
or it may be a dream that leads to something unexpected

Write your dreams down as soon as you remember them.
After a while they might start to make sense to you.
