Luvin, There are all sorts of Christians and we all have failings. What is more important is Jesus is not sexist. I've read the New Testament and Jesus treated women with respect, courtesy and compassion-universally. This is why I put my faith in Jesus, not in churches.
The Church - the Body of Believers is a group of people seeking to follow Jesus Christ and serve Him in this World. There is no perfect church with perfect believers - believe me I've looked. If there were a perfect church the minute I joined it would be flawed.
If you focus on what is wrong - you will never get very far as a Christian. Turn your attention to Jesus and you will be filled with love, inspired with the awesomeness of God.
I've been a believer for 37 years and I've found plenty to do and experience in the community of faith, in spite of any sexism I may have experienced.

If a person digs deeper into the Bible, they find that there was absolutely nothing wrong with women leading. The verses that support the idea of women not being able to preach have been ripped out of context, and the emphasis is being placed on the wrong words.
For example, 1 Corinthians 14 ("women keep silent in churches") was referring to women LEARNING in silence. If she's learning, she should remain silent; otherwise it disrupts the service.
The one in 1 Timothy 2 is ALSO referring to women learning in silence. Also, the Greek word that was translated as "to have" actually means "usurp." So it SHOULD have been translated as (in the NIV) "I do not permit any woman to USURP authority." So...what happens if a woman is called to preach? Would she then be justified? I believe she would be.
I wonder how many women over the last seventeen hundred years since Christianity first became sexist (it wasn't written that way at first!) have been refused their true calling because the men couldn't handle it.

The Bible uses "man," "men," etc as a generic term (like "they"). It is not written as sexist, and clearly states the men and women hold similar status in the sight of God. The Bible does differentiate the roles of men and women, however. Read in 1 Timothy 2:9-15. God is not saying that women are inferior, but different...meant for a different role.

God created woman only as an afterthought. He had originally directed Adam to choose an animal as his help meet:
Gen 2:18 ¶ And the LORD God said, [It is] not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
Gen 2:19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought [them] unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that [was] the name thereof.
Gen 2:20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
Gen 2:21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
Gen 2:22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
Gen 2:23 And Adam said, This [is] now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

Hypothetically, if God told all women they had to become housewives, and some women chose to rebel and become lawyers...then what do you think their sin would be?
My point is this, God made men and women for His purpose not our own. Ministry, Fellowship, education, marriage/relationships, etc are to be undertaken according to God's will.
If either a man or a woman is commanded by God to do something that hurts their pride, they are to do it out of love for and submission to God first and foremost, because God loves us and wants us to be happy. And by obeying God, we will be happier than we could ever be otherwise because He knows better than we do...which is an astronomical understatement.
Men do not like saying sorry...we generally do not like admitting that we are wrong. We do not like confessing things, we don't like it when we are not in control. We do not like asking for directions...or appearing weak. This all stems from our pride. This is something we as men must recognize and allow God to change in us. God is our strength, and our being loving and compassionate is godly. Thinking we know it all is arrogance and ignorance.
Only by submitting to His will, and rejecting our own prideful feelings will we progress in our walk as Christians.
Women have their own issues that deal with their pride...those are things that they need to reconcile with God. If a woman has a problem submitting to her husband for whatever reason...she needs to examine why, and to look at her own walk with God. The question becomes, am I rejecting this idea of a "woman's role" because of pride, or a lack of humility? Or am I rejecting it because it is not Biblical?
If it is Biblical, it is there for a reason that is not of men. It is something God is attempting to work on in our lives. If a practice is not Biblical, then it needs to be brought to the attention of the body of believers that is affected by it.
Take Care and God Bless.

It is not that they are sexist (though some are-but not because of their faith, they are just stupid) It is that God set Clear roles for men and women . some things men cant do and others women cant do . It is supposed to be different but equal . Women are not to be subjugated by men but Cherished by their husbands

well, you can either compromise your beliefs to avoid being politically incorrect, which is the same as being lukewarm in your faith, or you can adhere to the bible's original intention and become a member of the phelp's family.
either way, it doesn't make for a very good christian.
