alcohol is a depressant so although people can become cheery it numbs out body sense.

Illicit drugs such as cocaine or ecstacy are stimulants, this increases sensitivity in your body - however it does so at such a rate that your body cannot filter it well enough... Thus creating the loss of self control.

Illicit drugs are alot different, it's like a hyperactivity plus heightened senses of touch. Though this does not mean you'll become a superhero or anything, far from it.

Although you might get drunk and go dance or become slightly more active than usual it is not the same feeling as when you're high from ecstacy etc.

Cocaine, ecstasy and methamphetamine are stimulants.
Alcohol, narcotics, barbiturates and anti anxiety drugs (Valium, Ativan, Klonepin) are depressants.
LSD and drugs for bipolarism or other psychological problems are psychotropics and can cause bizarre behavior.
If you need more detail than that you're gonna have to do your own homework.
If you want to know so you can decide which illegal substances to try, DON"T.
