on their toes.

I am a corrections officer and was just looking to see if there are any other COs, past or present on here who can tell me little things they always did to keep the inmates on their toes.

The jail I work in is direct supervision, so I am dealing with the inmates face to face on a regular basis.

So, if you have any stories, advice on how you did things, or even suggestions please do tell.

As a Correctional Sgt with over 7 years experience I can tell you that the best way is to just do your job. If they see you are vigilant and always observant of them then they will respect that and not give you a hard time. They will move on to someone they think is weak and try to get over on them. Don't be the weak link.
