I've been wondering about this.

I know of someone who does not believe in the trinity, but believes that Jesus is their savior. He repents to Jesus, believes that Jesus was born of a virgin birth, and believes that Jesus is the only begotten son of God. But.. He does not think that Jesus is the almighty God, he believes that the Father is God.

Would you consider them bound for Hell?

The trinity is one way that man tries to explain the complexities of God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit while maintaining that there is one God. But some people believe that if all of these are God, then there must be more than one God. If a person cannot comprehend a 3-in-one God, yet believes that our only hope of salvation is through Jesus Christ, then I believe that that person can be saved.

The person who probably understands God the least is the one who believes he fully understands God.

Considering that the Bible doesn't mention a Trinity anywhere, it would be obvious that persons who do not believe in a Trinity are better off than those who do.

Did you know that Jesus often prayed to God? (Luke 6:12; John 17:1)

Did you know that Jesus did not consider himself equal to God? (John 5:19, 30; John 6:38; John 14:28; Mark 10:17, 18; Mark 14: 35, 36)

Did you know that Jesus referred to his father as "my God"? (John 20:17; Matthew 27:46)

Also consider these:
-Jesus died. Is it possible for God to die?
-Jesus was tested by the devil. Who was the devil trying to get Jesus to disobey?
-Jesus is described in the Bible as the first of God's creations. (Colossians 1:15) God was never created.
-The Bible says that God's name is Jehovah. (Psalm 83:18; Isaiah 12:2 Authorized King James Version)

The idea of a Trinity is not taught in the Bible. This teaching infiltrated the "Christian" congregation hundreds of years after the death of the last apostles. True Christians today, though a minority, do not believe this teaching. Jesus is the Son of God, he is not God Himself. Just as John 3:16 says: "God love the world so much....that he gave his Son."

I really don't know. Maybe the person is too young in the Lord to understand, that's possible. But through the Spirit that Jesus promised us believers, the truth will become known.

There are so many scriptures that point to Jesus being God in both the Old Testament and the New Testament that it's difficult not to believe, like this one:

Isaiah 9
6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Will God the Father be born on Earth too? Or is it true that when Jesus said, " I and the Father are One" he was being literal?

Your friend has a lot of questions to answer and a lot of weighing on the Holy Spirit ( who is also God ) to do.

Tell your friend to stop slacking and get to reading! He doesn't know enough to speak, apparently.

Jesus did no longer instruct that for the period of any respect! With the introduction of the incarnation God's existence as a real man or woman grew to alter into different to, yet no longer cut loose God's endured existence previous the incarnation (God in His transcendence). while God assumed a human existence interior the incarnation, He won a awareness and id which He did no longer very own in the previous the incarnation. He had a human psyche no longer crushed or ate up through His deity. The workout of Jesus' human nature (which includes His awareness, spirit, will, techniques, thoughts, and flesh) in the variety of way calls for that interior the incarnation, Jesus be spoken of as possessing an id different from, yet no longer cut loose the daddy. in simple terms as we come across a great distinction, yet no longer a separation of Christ's 2 natures, we additionally come across a great distinction, yet no longer a separation between God and Jesus; the daddy and the Son.

Absolutely not. The Trinity is not supported by the Bible. Your friend is right. True Christians do not believe that Jesus is God. He is God's Son.

Bound for hell is not my call.

However, if you do not believe what Jesus said about himself, (he claimed to be God on many many occasions) than you believe him to be a liar. Or perhaps insane?

On either count, how do you think he would feel about the insinuation that he did not know his own identity?

Feel free to ask me for support of the deity of Christ. It is abundant and easy.

Yep, because if he doesn't believe Jesus is God, then he does not believe the Word of God and the Jesus he believes is another Jesus that cannot save him. As for the trinity question; a person may not understand about the trinity but to say they reject it means they reject the Word of God. People cannot make their own Jesus if they want to be saved, It is one thing for a person not to understand but it is another thing to say I don't believe God and mean it.

the trinity is a false teaching. in the hebrew God is called Adonai Echad - the LORD is One. think of it like this - Yeshua is a lamp, God is the source of the light and the Holy Spirit is the illumination. they all have to work together for the lamp to work. if you take one part away, it won't work. so saying that God is in 3 parts means at some point He won't work and that's impossible

what you are describing sounds like Jehovah's Witnesses' beliefs.

I'd say that a person has to believe in the trinity to understand who God is because if you need to understand that Jesus was God's incarnation on Earth as one of his person's how can you understand who God is or the role of the holy spirit.

Someone like Jehovah's Witnesses put Jesus lower than God and say that he was one of the angels before he came to earth. That is not accurate.

the roman catholic church states that salvation is not bound to those in the catholic church and is readily available to all, one who does not know jesus christ or the gospel through no fault of their own can be saved. the decision lays with god and god alone knows. this means for example someone in a land not discovered or that has not yet received the gospel message of christ can be saved as it is no fault of their own. the catechism explains in more detail, there are online versions, here is one
