Eating meat or being a vegetarian or leaving out some kinds of meat is based upon some religious beliefs and there can be logical valid reasons for such beliefs, that needs to be studied in a historical context. But remaining a vegetarian can be ideal for human beings, only at Geographical locations where the vegetarian sources of nourishment are not freely or abusndantly available should meat eating be popular more as a necessity rather than a choice.

You are right friend!
ALLAH has created them all, so who better than HIM to guide us what we should have and what we should'nt. Also ISLAM says, what a person eats has an impact on a person's mind and body. Today science is also confirming that. Animals which ISLAM considers HOLY for eating are herbivorous. ISLAM has prohibited eating of pork as it's diet mostly comprises of animal and human excrete. No matter how much the christians deny it, there are some honest people who did agree to this fact(I had asked this question last month and the response was ambivalent).

A very interstin que.... Iv been askin this que myself for a long time til i read this book - Freedom @ midnight. A very unlikely source but it kinda convinced me.. also wanna make it clear that it explains the eatin habits only between Hindus n Muslims... Looks lik the Muslims, while travellin long distances had to cover the deserts n other harsh terrains in their conquest.. lack of veg food created a situation wer the ppl had to thrive on meat - cows, goat, camels etc. Pigs ofcuz thriving on dirt was a repulsion out of fear of diseases.. The Hindus,as the religion commanded, respected every life and rather made use of the milk n the byproducts of these animals. Cow for ex is the ultimate holy animal.Religiously speakin, its supposed to b the 'vahan' or the vehicle of the gods n godessess. So a Staunch Hindu wud never think of invokin the gods wrath by consuming his vahan. Scientifically speakn, the cow has multiple uses. Its urine is considered to cure diseases,it has aniseptic properties etc,.. its dung is used as a fertiliser and also antiseptic. its skin (after death) is also used in 'dhol' , a musicl instrument lik a drum...
Mix of cultures over the years has given us the present generation wer the hindus also eat meat n tho its a taboo, u hav many of them relishin beef.....
Am an atheist born in a Hindu family n usd to enjoy meat of evry kind tho i wudnt dare mention it @ home... but i think, if we wud hav to look into the eyes of the animal just b4 its slaughter, it wud b a differnt story.....

Animals are not really so holly. The worst human being is hollyer thatn the hollyest animal. Human beings cannot worship animals or plants or stones.... because none of them have a greater consciousness, awareness or love and wisdom than any of the human beings.

One thing is good though, for those who adore animals, because if they can have so much regard for a being with such low level of consciousness, they can deffinitelly have at least as much regard for even the lowest human being.

I hope there is no doubt for anyone that regarding consciousness and therefore potential, besides God, no other being is greater than human being.
Yet it is a matter of violence to kill animals in order to survive, expecially if the animal likes to be alive. It is animals who kill to survive, and although humans also behave like this, it does not mean that they don't have the potential of being non-violent. It is that they just choose to practice this violence, either because they don't know all the mental and bodily health issues related to eating animals, or because they don't want to know, etc....

Only in Hinduism few animals like cow monkeys snakes and elephant are scared

where as Jews and Muslims don't eat pork because God asked them in their holy book not to eat pork. the reason is not some sort of sacred but pork meat is unhealthy for human being.

For me, it is more of a Buddhist thing. I don't feel the need to eat things I do not need for survival. I don't like the idea of hurting animals either, so the two worked out together.

I am 19 now, and I haven't eaten meat since I was 13 years old. At this point in my life, it is definitely "no going back." If I ever ate meat again, I would probably get terribly ill.

The clean and unclean had to do with what the animals were doing. It included muscles and lobster and shrimp. Animals that were bottom feeders and ate garbage were prone to diseases and carriers of viruses etc. It was the benefit of the heath of people. IN the middle ages with the black plague the Jews did not die at the rate of others because they washed their hands before eating. The death rate was 25% of the population. Jews next to non. This led to persecution of course thinking that they were witches.
NOw a days meat is handled differently and with pork for example in Canada we raise gem free pigs that have no contact with gems. It is used in the hospitals for heart patients and of course in the stores.

Dear Brother,
God has created us along with our digestive system. So it is God who knows what is good for us & what is not.
For instance take the example where it is forbidden in the Bible as well as the Quran --- Not to drink blood.

Now after Hundreds of years people came to know that Blood is a carrier of diseases (HIV etc.)

Similarly it is mentioned in the Quran. Not to eat swine. the same instruction is given in the Bible . That the swine is not a cud chewing animal hence do not eat it.

So God has told us that only cud chewing animals are clean for us. They only eat vegetation.

Now who is supposed to follow these instructions.
The ones who consider these books are revealed by God.

SO YOU NEED TO ASSESS THESE BOOKS -- To verify if these books are from GOD or not.

The Bible & Quran are revealed by ONE GOD. But as man made many changes in the Bible . Hence God has revealed his last Book --- THE QURAN.

READ IT , ASSESS IT, ---- Believing whether it is true or not is your decision.

May God lead us all to the straight path.......AMEEN.

According to Islam and Qur'an as the life guide God in surah 2 Al Baqarah only prohibites 4 kinds of foods to be eaten e.g animal blood, pig meat (pork),animal which is slaughtered without saying in the name of God and the dead animal except fish. (see verse 173)..There is no holy animal in line with Islam.God does not suggest muslims to eat only vegetables like for vegetarians.God created all animals for the benefit of humans except those stated above and all vegetables for us.We are free to choose it as it is fit for you and do not harm your heath..God does make a discrimana
tion.God does not prohibite humans who will be vegetarian.
Animals are allowed to be eaten or be taken its milk or use it as the tool of transportation such as camels, horses, elephant
s etc.The 4 prohibitions are a challenge for humans to elaborate why are not allowed to be eaten..All halal foods can be eaten as long as fit to your health.

Fact is that without violence can not live. But we must ensure that we do minimum violence and harm to other to sustain ourselves.

Food have been categorized as Satvic (light and pure), Rajsic (creates restless) and Tamsic (heavy and stale). If you are on spiritual path, then Rajsic and Tamsic food should be avoided, as it creates restless or heaviness - such as meat, pork, beef, eggs, onion and garlic etc.
