Of course, we're not.
Why, then, do Christians attribute atrocities such as child molestation to 'free will'? Why couldn't God have created us so that such a vile, disgusting thing would never even enter one's head, much less be acted upon? If we must live in a 'fallen world', why couldn't God make hurting children off-limits, just as he made determining our own height off-limits?

As a Christian, all I can say is, I truly, truly, truly do not know.
I can speculate, I guess. There's nothing in the chaos and cosmos of creation that really protects "the young"; quite the opposite. The laws of nature seem to devour the young and preserve the strong. I guess there's some evolutionary sense to that. And as part of the animal kingdom, I suppose humans (and even other cute mammals) don't escape from those laws. But it sure breaks your heart, doesn't it?
Don't know what else to say. Peace to you.

God puts individuals in our path to teach us something about ourselves.
What would it say about our society, as a whole, if it didn't react to such horrific behavior?
What would it say about you?
The very fact that it disgusts you, that there are laws are the books speaks volumes... it may not be a perfect scenario to end all child abuse.
But without any bad in the world, how in the heck can you appreciate the good?
Another analogy would be to look at how a pearl is formed.
It starts out as an irritant inside the oyster. The oyster releases a chemical that isolates it and eventually the pearl is formed.
God introduces 'irritants' into our lives on a daily basis. I agree that it sometimes sucks, but how else would you be able to guage the progress of your personal growth?

Oh my. You sound just like me. I am also 23 and I have never gotten over my horribly low self esteem. I think that you need counseling. Honestly. If you haven't been able to ease your problems on your own, then it would probably be a LOT of help for you to have someone else try to mend the pain that you feel. Also, you should not be entering into a relationship if you feel so badly about yourself. The relationship will not go well, and you will end up hurting him, or being hurt yourself. You need to seek therapy before you enter into a relationship. As for him being 16...yeah, that's kind of young. I wouldn't date a guy any younger than 19, personally, but it doesn't mean that it's wrong for you. If it is legal in Canada for you to be in a relationship with a 16 year old, then it is fine. There isn't anything wrong with you two dating, if it is legal, anyway. Also, if he makes you feel good, and if you are getting along with him well, then that is a really good thing for you. But please, you need to take things really, really slow with him. And you need to get therapy if you want your relationship to work out well, and if you want to do what is best for yourself. You are a beautiful woman, and there isn't anything wrong with the way you look. You are very pretty. And I hope that you realize this soon. Also, I don't see why you think that you are 'slow'. You write well and spell correctly. You do not seem at all slow to me. But please seriously consider seeking therapy. If money is a problem for you, there are many places that will work with you on the price of your therapy sessions, and you do not need to pay more than you can afford to. Please, please, please try therapy. You don't deserve to feel so bad about yourself. You are absolutely stunning. I think your father said horrible things to you and I am sorry that you had to go through that. But he was lying. You are so pretty. I think he said those things to you to make you think that you weren't attractive enough for any boy, so that you wouldn't even TRY to go on dates with any boys. You said that your father was religious, correct? Well, he probably told you that you were ugly to lower your self esteem to the point that you didn't even desire attention from the opposite sex. He didn't want you dating, having sex, or having any fun because all of those things are 'sinful'. I personally think that could be why he told you that you were ugly. I think that is a terrible thing to do to your own child, and that he should be ashamed of himself. Please try to see how pretty you really are. Good luck, and I really hope that you get the help that you need, that you can be happy, and that you find someone who you are happy with. You deserve only good things in life:)

To question God's wisdom in His creations is foolishness tinged with arrogance. Have you ever tried you hand at "creating" a living being? It is easier to attribute blame where it does not belong. Whether God exist or not the blame for those atrocities shud rest solely on the perpetrator.
atheist use this question to "prove" that IF God exists (which He doesnt of course to an atheist) but IF God exists then He must be evil. Wrong! Thats blasphemy
EDIT:
JMD: you know very well what i meant by "creating" but choose to twist the meaning to suit your own view. youre not the only one who has ever given birth. likening your "creative powers" to that of the Creator Himself is blasphemy also. am i correct in assuming you are atheist?

I agree with you totally, and i would say that the world is getting worst all the time, but looking back on History, I see that there have always been those that have no limits when it comes to hurting people.
I don't have the answers o many of my questions, of course I could make up some, but that would be cheating.
at my age you would thing that I would have more answers than I do, but I seem to come up with more questions, than answers.

God puts us where God wants us. before God takes back the time he has given us and rewards of punishes us for our reactions to our situations. Jesus died four our sins so that we may be shown a path towards life everlasting. In the same way somebody who is abused has a unique ability to show others how to over come there problems.

That's a question I've had myself. I can't really answer it except to say that I think there is a special place in hell for people who hurt children.

the other problem with that line of thinking is we don't know what God's plan is. while your example would be terible to endure, and is terrible from our perspsctive, it is different from God's perspective, which we can't understand, which is why our(christians) faith is tested when these things happen.
