FDR was elected in 1933 and served as President until he died April 12, 1945 from a cerebral hemorage. He is the only President of the US to serve more than 2 terms, which is now the maximum an electee can be President. Harry Truman was the Vice President at the time of his death so then became President and finished WW2 months later.
