where is the lump on your neck? if its at the back near the base of your skull it could be a cyst or lymph gland (i had a lump come up about 2 months ago that hurt and thats what it was) if the lump is not painful its not likely to be an infection of any sort. you can not tell by poking a lump if it is cancer or not you will need a biopsy of it or a blood test may show it up also (by then i think it has to be quite bad)
go and see your gp again and tell him you think its got bigger that way they can refer you to the hospital for tests if they think its needed.

It could be a thyroid problem. If it is around your lower neck area. Are you have any trouble with swallowing food? It sounds like the doctor or doctors should have ran some more tests on you. Since you said this lump has gotten bigger, I would have to say that it sounds pretty serious; if the medicine that the doctor gave you hasn't gotten any better yet.

I have had mine in the neck for a year with no infections of any kind - doc said sebaceous cyst, hospital doc said benine tumour - hospital scan and biopsy said lymph node - waiting on results,- seemingly it can be left over from an infection??

Sounds like a lymph-node or glandular reaction, not cancer.
Did you have inoculations before you went?
Where on your neck is this lump, how big is it and does it feel hard?
Were you bitten by anything whilst you were there?
Not enough info to go on yet.
Update if you want.
All the best.

I've no experience whatsoever on this subject so I've done a quick google search. According to wrongdiagnosis.com, it could any one of 67 illnesses. Have a look and see if you can identify with one of them. I hope it gives you peace of mind.

don't panic. Get to doctor and run some tests but do not over react, relax, you don't know anything yet. Just wait until you see another doctor

it could just be swollen lymph nodes...i used to get those all the time. some people are just prone to them. sometimes they don't go away for a while. go get a second opinion regardless. and don't panic.
